Hi to all,i'm thinking of installing a complete set of speakers with amp and sub. Would like to ask for advice as i'm considering JBL grand touring series. For a budget of about $1900, are there any other brands which would have better sound quality within the same price range? Thanks in advance.

Hi there

I would advise you to audit some other speakers like Danish Acoustics, Helix and Rainbow. Each type of speakers has their own characteristics and it would be good for you to listen to them before deciding.. Ditto for amp and sub.

Btw, what's the price breakdown of your JBL package?

cheers

My personal experience.

Good system that won competitions are always tested and tuned for a particular type of music(rock, vocal, jazz, etc). Not forgetting they are done while the car is stationary (meaning no other road noise).

Sound quality is relative to different ears. You need to adjust the equalizer and signal time to suit to your ears preference.

So what you need is really a GOOD head unit and processor that allow you to adjust the music and soundstage and time alignment.

I would say most reputable speakers and amp are acceptable. The source is the most important system to upgrade first!

$1900 is definately enough. Enjoy your trip.

Streetbumpkin, you have a good budget to work with but its not necessary for you to get brand new stuff. Source around for good second stuff in many of the good car audio forums around and you never know what good combinations you can get at the end of the day. You can start to get bits and pieces before going down to good installer to fix them up once and for all. They will definitely charge for the installations but may not provide any warranty for your stuff. Therefore, good installers please and good tuners should be the main concern at the end of the day.
