It is dangerous to do such things in neutral [shakehead][shakehead] problem with convectional auto is power lost from torque converter...and its the program that controls your car rather then you...i believe we are always better in reacting various situation as compare to computer....fun driving does not come with fuel economy... [shakehead][shakehead]

I think all this fuel saving thingy is crazy.

Spend $620 to save a little bit of fuel? Do you know what is the return on your investment?

Also, after spending $60k on a car....you are now trying to save ....$20-30 a month of fuel?

I suppose you are trying to drive like a Chinese.

 

Change gear every 1.5k - 1.8k rpm, accelerate briskly and slow.

When approaching traffic junction put your gear into neutral.

From they way you drive you might get some respectable FC.

The amount of acceleration pressed is also the key.

Anyone noticed the humourous and ironical error in the Title "Tips to INCREASE FC", meaning tips to increase fuel consumption?! [laugh]

 

Should be "Tips to Decrease Fuel Consumption" or "Tips to increase fuel mileage".... [flowerface]

Hi,

 

I would say you have gotten a value-for-money car. AWD is no doubt very good and efficient but pls rem it does have its limitations too.

 

I agree with you that you still get excitment from the way you drive. In the first place, excitment is very subjective. To some, gunning dwn the expressway is exciting, taking a fast corner is also excitment and to some, to see the fuel needle dropping very slowly is exciting too. I do not wish to comment anything on how individual gets his/her excitment.

 

I just like to stress that doing a 80km/h corner at NETURAL gear is simply SILLY! I am pretty sure no one does that and I think you have not even understood the basics of taking a corner.

 

I cannot stop you from saving fuel and in fact and you have my fullest support for contribuiting on your part as an Earthling to save the environment, but my advise is, do not save a penny for a pound. You save that few cents and lose a rear bumper in the end...... simply not worth, IMHO... Its simple Maths.

 

Happy mod for fuel efficiency. Probably you could look into PnP, and UNI-Chipping too. getting 15km/l shldn't be much of a problem. Keep us posted!

the goal is actually achieve it.

 

Well most of us like to have the Best of everything.

 

I cannot buy a Honda Jazz, which can have 15km/litre of petrol just using the Auto Transmission.

 

It gave me lousy centre of gravity. When you do that

 

I cannot do a down slope corner sharpe corner Expressway Exit. I did it with NEUTRAL , speed is 80km/hr. And the CAr GLued to the ground. That is what I call Enjoyment.

 

In search for the Best car EVER. Most of us who buy car want the best of everything.

 

-Impreza 1.6i Gave me the Stability of an Euro Car.

- Luxury of leather inside,

- Made in Japan , cheaper than VIOS and Altis which is made in Thailand

-Look not so Uncle.

-Price cheaper than Altis and VIOS and Honda. ( wants the best deal)

 

I choose Impreza over all cars, now try all i can to get back the VVTI FC which is 12km/litre.

 

When I test drive an Altis @ Leng Kee, I did a 90 degree sharpe corner, Cannot make it, It does not felt STABLE.

 

I am trying to MOD for better FC and train myself to drive Fuel economically.

 

What SUBARU gave me , Image which is not so UNCLE and the EURO feel is out of this world.

 

In future when I reach my 40s, No way I am going to buy a CAMRY. My target SUBARU LEGACY.

You sure a 1.6 liter car can hit 100km/hr with 2000rpm?this is only achievable with 1.8 or above.Even Altis and Avante cannot do it,you sure impreza can?

can any bro here wat is the "power" button on the 1.6i AT impreza? does changing gear oftenly will spoil the auto gearbox? installed superione st555, sd888 and broquet in line and in tank still gg at 9.5km/l.. haha waste of my money... anyone wanna buy??

then i can press the button everytime i drive? den why they have the button there instead of putting power to the car itself

i believe that button is there for most auto cars.. it's to turn off the overdrive mode, lets u drag the gears longer before changing them, giving u a short burst to overtake.

 

By switching the button off = overdrive on, i.e default.. gives u better mileage. [;)]

Here we have a newbie... starting a thread and proudly proclaiming a few tips on improving fc, yet got bitch-slap left right right centre.... [laugh]

nothing new, you should see what (MCF) was like 5 years ago [laugh][laugh] drivers/car owner now are more educated liao [thumbsup][thumbsup]

The TS is underpowered, high FC and cramp interior so its not really the best of everything

Mazda 3 shld be able to meet your requirements too.

 

bro mzd3 also underpowered and cramp lar.. same same [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]
