Yeobh 4th Gear July 8, 2007 Share July 8, 2007 Tuning single and multiple carb can be carried out very easily with this simple device call Colourtune even for those who have little knowledge of engine tuning. Just adjust the carb until you see the right colour flame via the glass top spark plug. Simple and fast. ↡ Advertisement
Pisces69 6th Gear July 8, 2007 Share July 8, 2007 Normally when the low fuel light comes on, u still have about 10 lit of reserve petrol left. Enough to drive >100km. U want to confirm? Just buy a can of 5 lit spare petrol & put in your boot. Run till the engine dies & check how far u travelled from time the light came on till engine die. U will b surprised. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But the modern engine using petrol pump to pressurised up the fuel before injecting into combustion, if run until dry and air sucked into fuel line, will it be difficult to prime the system of the air-lock? ========================= I tot this problem is only with diesel engines????? This I not too sure leh.
Pisces69 6th Gear July 8, 2007 Share July 8, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see..... I maintain them using carb spray to clean internal while engine running, and once in a while silicon spray to lube the springs and moving parts....so far so good. ======================= This type of cleaning cannot keep it really clean cos inside got many holes & channels that need to b cleaned by stripping it apart. If the carb feels lethargic, u might just need a proper cleaning. My mech charged me $50 long ago. This includes changing 2 gaskets.
Octopus 3rd Gear July 8, 2007 Share July 8, 2007 Does your mechanic still do mainteance of carburattor? Currently still ok, but good to know where to get such service when the time comes...
So_nice 6th Gear July 9, 2007 Author Share July 9, 2007 earlier in the day i just went to view this ep80: http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-200izzRx-1186.html as told that the ep80 is fitted with weber carb and man! it sounded so much different when the engine was on. the engine seems rev happy and roaring to go! however as the dealer will reving the engine for me to hear the engine note, i noticed that there was a pretty strong smell of petrol? not sure its petrol smell or just the exhaust gas. the engine bay looks need and no leakage on the floor as i noticed. one more thing i noticed, when the dealer tried to turn on the ignition key, he had stepped on the acceleration padel? just wondering why was it so? does this indicate something is not right with the engine? a snap shot of the engine bay.. the interior was abit run down to be frank. the so called sports steering was a wood grain type and it looks sucky. the meters where those old sch dials and not white ones. the gt seats looks alittle run down, no power mirror and only 2 power windows(front 2 windows)?? the air con was pretty cold though. i was wondering how much would it cost to do up the interior again? considering changing a 2nd hand sports steering, a pair of budget 2nd hand sports seats and maybe wrap half leather on the car rear seat and door panel? anyone haf idea? Dionyeo Neutral Newbie July 9, 2007 Share July 9, 2007 -when the dealer tried to turn on the ignition key, he had stepped on the acceleration padel?- he's using the ram-pipe open pod filter intake, i suppose the carb opening was choking for more air and fuel to start the engine. open pod short/long ram pipes for our carbs in another words actually meant lesser air being sucked in, thus need to ram while startin the engine. -i noticed that there was a pretty strong smell of petrol?- this does sounds normal for a weber(not tuned properly) thou. -the engine seems rev happy and roaring to go!- 1. 4-2-1 extractor 2. Short-ram open pod does gives the extra umph after 2300rpm. anyway, yeah it's a weber.

Dionyeo Neutral Newbie July 9, 2007 Share July 9, 2007 its not normal..it's evil and poisonous. u need to fine tune a little thats all.
So_nice 6th Gear July 9, 2007 Author Share July 9, 2007 sounds good...i like..but fc gonna suffer if i kept ramming past the 2.3k rpm mark?
Dionyeo Neutral Newbie July 9, 2007 Share July 9, 2007 not really lah.. no matter what u'll still be above 10km/l. that's pretty good for some umph.
Dionyeo Neutral Newbie July 9, 2007 Share July 9, 2007 on the DCNF weber, people i know so far are running 11-14km/l, basically i think only uzi is running 14km/l cause he says so. u gotta check out with him if u wanna go thru all the headaches and hassles to get that achievement. otherwise u can hook satinepink up and read the book together. the fc will all depend on your usage, driving characteristics, gearbox, tyres, overall weight, engine and engine settings, carb settings, and of course, type of fuel. it's crap thou. So_nice 6th Gear July 9, 2007 Author Share July 9, 2007 ic..so its safe to say the fc wouldnt be hugely affected rite?
Satinepink Neutral Newbie July 10, 2007 Share July 10, 2007 Bottom line.. Stock - gd FC SU - umph/maintanence free/FC depends on how much u whack/not as gd as stock FC Weber - poisonous beast! big umph/tend to floor cos the power is at the pedal...u won't resist.
