Ahbengdriver 6th Gear July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 For those who own TCed cars, such EVOs and STIs, Saabs, Audis etc and had done chipping to substantially boost power up to like 400bhp or more, have you guys experienced any problems thereafter? Does it alter or affect your ride, or causes reliability problems or other headaches? ↡ Advertisement
Porker Turbocharged July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 Why beng? Thinking of changing to 335 or thinking of swapping 335 engine into your car
Dwoon 1st Gear July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 (edited) Don't think you can get those type of HP just by re-tuning. The engine internals, breathing, turbo size, etc... won't be able to support it. To get that sorta power... hardware mods are required, together with proper tuning to run the hardware changes. If done properly, no headaches..... just much higher FC. Of course, the wear & tear parts will go sooner as well. In stock form, tuning alone will at the most, get you 20% more which is already very good. (More like around 10%, else the car manufacturers' tuners aren't doing a good job to maximise the current hardware) What is done is you're basically eating into the safety margin incorporated in stock form. For eg. the car might be able to operate on RON95 grade or better fuel. (min RON95), but after tuning, you might only be able to run only RON97 or RON98 since the "safety" margin is reduced to max out the hardware. Ahbengdriver 6th Gear July 6, 2007 Author Share July 6, 2007 (edited) Well not that I am changing to a 335 for I do not have the $$ to get one unless I open more 'shops' along Lor 6 I am alien to TC cars but I had been reading Vishnu Tuning(and I am just told it used to be a Subaru and EVO tuner in USA) could sell a chip that makes the stock BMW 335i's 306bhp/400nm which is already very high IMO to go up to somewhere like 380bhp/500nm, with a new version capable of doing even more Now these figures are serious zhit, dont play play. But I ve spoken to a mechanic before n he thinks its bullzhit and u cant get that kind of gain without spending a bomb. The chip is said to cost only less than USD$2k Edited July 6, 2007 by Ahbengdriver
Dynaway 1st Gear July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 amazing.... jus the chip can do so much power.... wat the hell do we need the Fcon, emanage, motec for???? i think 80hp increase in jus changing of chip is unlikely... perhaps together with some alteration to some hardware setups as well maybe still possible. ↡ Advertisement
