Thinking of flying to Austin and stay there for 3 weeks somewhere in September.

Hence I think I better do some planning now.

Does anyone know of any good deal for air-tickets? I was told I need to take 3 planes to reach there. I don't really like to fly, esp. over such long journey, which is the better route for me to take? Via L.A. or via S.F. ?

Thanks for any inputs and suggestions.

I would suggest Cathay.

One of my friend flew to Phoenix and he reccomends Cathay, IMO its cheaper and provide better service compared to SQ. But u have to take more flights(3 in this case).

Route will be like

SGP - HKG - LA - Austin

Just my 2 cents!

Best value is always the journey that make the most stopover and longest time....Unless you don't mind that then considered UA...For me I will take the direct flight from SG to LA...then domestic from LA to Houston then drive an hour or two to Austin.... [:)]

I recommend what the other bro did --> Take Cathay

Much better service than SIA.

I got a silver status just because I kept flying Cathay.

PPS members ---> priviledge not as much as a mere Cathay silver status in that I get more upgrades to Business Class. Come to think of it, I never got an upgrade to Business Class in SIA [rolleyes]

there's a few ways to get to LA.. first SQ's non-stop.. which is great for time saving and cost about 2.2k.. got others like from HK with cathay, beijing with air china, bangkok with thai air or fly with northwest stopping at tokyo... unless u can get a great deal from the non-local airline then stick to SQ cause u save lots of time and the danger of losing your luggage is also lower..

think even Bush can't guarantee that.

Osama may be the more appropriate person to answer this question.

Try not to fly any american airline especially for long haul flights. Their seats are cramped and old, and service totally sucks. Some of them don't even have personal screens.

If cannot afford SQ try other Asian airlines. I flew ANA to Washington DC last year via Tokyo. Their inflight entertainment and seats may not be as good as SQ's, but the food and service attitude is definitely top notch! Much cheaper than SQ too!
