if can lagi best. you need 3 pairs of RCA cables running from front to rear, but take note of the quality of the RCAs. quality of the speaker cables not so impt compared to the RCAs (which have the extra responsiblity of "protecting" the low-level signals from external noise before it reaches the amps).

You will definately need 3 RCA cables plus tons of speaker cables...

For $150 it is cheap and at that price, i highly doubt they're gonna give you good RCA cables because a decent cable will cost at least $60 each on it's own...there are cheaper ones but not as good...and RCA is very iportant especially for active setups. Speaker cables good ones also about $8/m....normal ones are about $3-5/m....of course you can always go SLT to buy Belden cables....cheaper there but no installation la...

When you count installation charges....all for $150? High chance what you're getting aren't good stuff...maybe just average or low end...it'll work...just not as good

does SLT sell ready made belden cables? Or do i have to get them to help me terminate?

Remember that your speaker cables and interconnects should not be anything more than 30% of your total equipment cost. Its not a rule, but a guide so that we don't overspend and also, don't underspend...wink.gif

actually i would want to spend as little as possible on cables. but seems like i might as well change the wiring one shot. any suggestions on "ok" cables to get?

My own preference when it comes to industrial/professional audio cables (in order):

Mogami - hard to find, reasonable in price and good SQ

Canare - easier to find, cheap and SQ is ok

Belden - can find all over the place, cheap but SQ (to me at least...) so-so

There is this shop in Sim Lim Tower (3rd level) that most of us DIYers go, it is called LHS, ask for Robert.

Hi bro,

Just a word of advice on buying RCA cables and putting amp below seat. Do plan carefully if you intend to add a processor in the near future and put the processor in the boot. If you get a short 2m RCA cable now, then if you install your processor in the boot in the near future, you may end up replacing all the RCA cables with new and longer ones.

This is just my personal experience as my amps are also below my seat and got 2 pairs of 2m RCA cable for my speakers. I then decide to get a processor within 1 or 2 mth and ended up changing my RCA cables as they are not long enough. So, if you are getting a processor and putting it behind the boot very soon, then I would advise you to change all together esp if you are getting the more expensive type of RCA.

2 cents.

cheers

2nd level bro. Not 3rd.

How I wish that I can put Kimber Kable 4TCs in and Crystal cables as interconnects.. but well, that will cost more then my current setup.

I am not very sure about the price of the brands you mention but I believe they are pretty reasonable stuff. How long are they offering you? If you are having 3 pairs of RCA at 5m long (Amps in the boot) as well as long speaker cables, I think its a good price.

Its worth to invest in a good pair of RCAs as that will be able to reuse the next time. Speaker cables can also be reused too.
