Punto with a Fiatitude

This Punto came in a pretty good condition except for some paint transfers and scratches which looks harmless but required a good buffing to get rid of.

I started with PC on Orange LC and intensive polish, but could only manage about 50% of the scratches. So I tried again with another round, but could only improve up to 65% max. So out came the Hitachi Rotary with orange LC pad and IP and finally managed to improve up to about 95%. Upon close inspection with my halogen lamp, there were only very light and short scratch marks left and I decided to leave them alone as the overall shine has improved considerably and the metallics were popping out under the light.

There are only 2 pics showing the before n after treatment of the scratches while I got a friend of mine to take the outdoor shots. They turned out petty well in spite of the short time we have with the sun hiding behind dark clouds most of the time. Enjoy!!

Steps:

1) Wash n clay

2) Rotary with Orange LC pad and IP

3) PC with grey LC pad and CG's EZ creme glaze

4) Hand application of CG's Factory Sealant x 2 layers

Even this pic shows how much more the flakes were popping compared to the before pic [cool]

Thanks. For silver colour, my aim would usually be to get them as clean as possible and use non-carnauba products that brings out the shine rather than add gloss. Also, when prepping the car, I would use a polish/cleaner combo rather than a polish/glaze combo. Reason being glaze usually adds depth which results in a slight darkening of the colour compared to a cleaner which shows up the true colour.

There are, however, owners who owns silver coloured vehicles who like their silver to have a slightly darker shade to give the wet look. To each his own i guess [laugh]

I wouldn't want my ride to be the centre of attraction.sweatdrop.gif

Sometimes, it ain't that great for one's ride to be too outstanding. Been there, Done it. sly.gif

Did you also machine buff the rooftop?

If so, do you have any suggections on how to do it, especially for short people?

Oh yes, the rooftop included.

When I do this portion, I usually use a work stool with wide and sturdy legs. I also use anti-slip stickers on the bottom to prevent slipping. The stool is used even when i polish a normal sedan so that I can see better. Hope this helps. Cheers!!
