Where to find lowering springs with stiffer spring rates for Octy A5

Hi ya, does anyone knows where can I find any lowering springs with stiffer spring rates for an Octy A5(Combi)? Find the stock ones a little too soft. Does Autovox have it, cos I know they are having their annual sale next Fri onwards.

Some of the bros driving the Superb have been talking about getting some p5's for our ride, like you I feel my ride alittle too soft for me. Just do not get japaness springs for your car, it might damage it from some bros experience here.

 

Anyways where is Autovox located now?

Shld be 9 Lok Yang Way if I did remember corectly, its next to Stamford tires. Some say changing springs alone will spoil the shock absorber.

Think there's quite a lively discussion in here somewhere regarding this issue. Or u can pm bro. XLR8 who had some nasty experience with changing the springs but using original shocks.....

 

Soon u'll probably find some bros. here who advocate stock. Sure u want to give up the comfort of stock settings so soon ? ......

i would like to stay stock as well. However the A5 does feel alot more soft and rolly than my previous A4. And it's not a grippy as my A4 as well.

you are not alone dear bro. Our superb also has this problem but my wife "disallowed" the upgrade, citing $$$. I am now studying my second doc program and so she said better dun waste $ on cars. Good reason I would say. :-P Also, both of us getting old and so best to save some $$$ to look after our old age.

HOLY SH|T? Mine is on some ABT springs with stock absorbers.. looks like my ride can fail anytime.. ticking time bomb

i'm no expert in this area but I think there's enough discussion in here as to why you don't change ur spring & leave the absorber stock.

 

Best is to have a spring/shock pairing as stock shock is meant to work with stock spring. Most likely your stock shock will die much earlier when paired with the ABT spring.

Nasty experience ?? That means either our stock shocks are crap or the springs settings for bro XLR8 are way too stiff. Had done this with previous rides, as long as the spring rates are not way stiffer than stock should be ok, only bumpier ride. I'm ok with a slightly stiffer ride, used to track a bit, still miss those days mah. Thks for the advice anyways.

Shld think that a reputable tuner like ABT shld have R&D it before releasing to the market wat. Previously I was using STi springs with my shocks for my rex for pass 4yrs without problems, whereas the coilovers I used lasted only 2yrs and started producing rattling noises. How long u used the springs already?

Actually, from my point of view despite what several others have attested to, changing just the springs alone to lowering springs wouldn't hurt as much.

 

There ARE lowering springs by big brands with products for such purposes.

 

How bad can it get? It's just like someone telling you that rewinding and forwarding too much on your dvd player will screw it up

 

So why do the manufacturers even insert such functions to anything at all

It should be ok. Like I said, don't think reputable tuners will do something silly to hurt their reputation. I'm looking at either ABT or H&R springs, any good workshops to recommend?
