oomph Neutral Newbie June 12, 2007 Share June 12, 2007 this is the secret ingredient for better tyres lately, unfortunately the manufacturers themselves have remained silent about it - probabaly because they can profit from the ignorance. i read about this about a year ago - the review also pointed out that in the tyre tests, most of the best all-round tyres had silica in them. some manufacturers though choose not to directly attribute it to silica but some other design element - particularly tread design - or some "new" technology.
