Removing or adding mufflers wont do much but change the way your exhaust sounds. If you are worried about the restrictive nature of the stock exhaust system, remove the catalytic converter. The catalytic converter, or CAT for short, is a stubby looking canister located after your header for N/A cars or DP for turbo cars and usually has an O2 bung on it. The CAT itself is the single most restrictice part of any exhaust system. Removing it will greatly improve flow, but contribute to green house gases.

N/A vehicles respond very mildly to bolt-on modifications.

4-2-1 or 4-1 are exhaust manifold, or header configuration for a inline 4 cylinder N/A motor. 4-2-1 simply means 4 pipe exiting your motor merges into 2 pipes and then into 1, while 4-1 means 4 pipes merges into 1.

Some ppl claim to have better torque output with the 4-2-1 configuration while others claim to get better top end power with the 4-1 pieces.

You probably wont be able to tell the difference if your motor is not upgraded and tuned inside out.
