TP limiting speedo to 90km/hr

SG is too small a market for car manufacturers to make a speedo like tat.

There are like more than 500thousand cars in SIngapore.

A black box limiter like those for goods vehicle can easily by implemented.

I know many honda cars has those controller box that can change the fuel mapping easily.

So I believe similar box can also be installed in all cars to retard ignition and reduce fuel injection when speed reaches 90km/hr.

What is another $300 added to the car price, when we already pays so many small fees to register the car!

Maybe can incorporate the balck box in the new generation ERP unit....can monitor the car speeds and car details and upload to the ERP ganry each time we drive past it!

U tell your friend or I tell u, I even have a better idea. Have every car installed a GPS system link to TP's computer.

Each time a car is over the speed limit the GPS system will pick up the signal and print out the summon and auto send to the registered address. No horse run I tell u.

Bigger profit margin. Why only let the contractors profit thru installation?

I'll be your friend. Now go spread what I've told u.

Hehe, you already said you heard from your "Crazy" friend....then you still believe?

In any case, i belive SG cars have a speed cut of 175km/h or 180km/h..at least my car had that until i removed it :)....but then again, i've never gone that speed before anyways...so what's the diff hehe..

To set it at 90km/h is a total waste of anyone's time...car manufacturers will never go through the trouble and boast the BHP and 0-100 timing and stuff....no point right?

Then how to drive our cars to Malaysia? Can only drive on the left lane of the NS highway.

Cannot be true.

Don't worry. Only speedo change. What's beneath the bonnet.... no one will know. [sly]

Turbocharged
i'll sell my car if that is true... [:p][:p]

NO, NO, NO... you should not be selling your car because with all the new WRXes or EVOs limited to only 90km/h in the future, your lao po kar will smoke them at 100km/h [laugh]

maybe if you sell it, u can get 2x the price of new cars [sly]

I heard from my crazy fren that all cars will only be allowed into singapore if they convert the speedo to show only max 90km/hr. The electronic engine cut will also limit the car speed to max 90km/hr.

It was said that Japan has already limit their car speed to max 180km/hr and Germany car co voluntarily limit their super cars to max 280km/hr for safety reasons.

In Singapore there are no super highway that justify a much higher speed than 90km/hr.

So for the safety sake, it was suggested that all cars for Singapore market be electronic limited to 90km/hr.

This way, TP will no longer need to be deployed on overhead bridge to catch speeders. All car owners will feel safe that they will not exceed the speed limit and no need to watch out for police. So this will make the driving experience a safe and unstress one!

Your crazy frend not only crazy, He/She also jia ba bo sai bang [hur] But I like the idea. Then lorries and buses can overtake the "future cars". Not only that, maybe legalise motorized bicycle on the road also... but limit their speed to 90km/hr also... [sly] When that day comes, u will see people inline skate on AYE, TPE.........

don't think this system will work without lots of $$$ (i.e. more tax on us). what if the driver wants to go to malaysia? stuck at 90km/h on the NSH????!

don't forget there are many m'sians working in singapore too and the occassional family outing to johor.

sounds [hur]

Neutral Newbie

quite unlikely...

cos if it does happened, SPF will retrench at least

half of the TP strength which create a sudden increase

in unemployment

who needs them now as even Ferrari has a max speed of 90km/h?

with that the former law enforcers with anger and hatred,

they turned criminals

[hur]

only people with pea sized brain will think:

well, yes, it more impt to keep the cars SLOW & 'safe'

than keeping people gainfully employed and issuing summons

to increase their own pay

if it's true, can't imagine a performance car going at that speed.

who is going to buy a performance car now? wat's the point then?

then go up north also at 90? wah lau, take ard 12 - 13 hours just to reach KL.

Going slow & having a reliable & safe car are 2 different things. [sly]

I heard the TP will be installing blinkers on top of all our cars - so they will BLINK BLINK BLINK when we hit 90KM/H.

To soothe likely public outrage, the LTA has engaged world reknown automotive designer, Pininfarina to redesign the big orange blinkers once commonly seen ontop of lorries so that it will give our cars a less idiotic pofile when the law kicks in.

- How my story good boh? Maybe you should circulate this before I sell it to "The Onion"
