Does UPGRADING inevitably means BIGGER engine capacity?

Is it generally true that when we upgrade we tend to buy the next car with bigger cc?

Does this make sense? When we upgrade it means we are moving towards a better option?

Big cc cars mean worse oil consumption

do you really need a 2L car in Singapore

the only difficult hill to climb is Mount Faber

how many of us drive to Mount faber

most of us are already past the pat tor stage already

RX-8 is 1.3l. My car is 1.5l. If an RX-8 owner trades in his car for a Vios, does that mean he's upgrading? [:/][:|][hur]

Bro, sometimes your postings ah, don't know what you're trying to do also... [:/]

As long as you like your next car more than your present car, it's considered an upgrade.

Price, engine capacity, brand, bhp does not matter.

Hi Meecar, what you have mentioned is a personal perception and preference. How about HDB flat dwellers owning 2.0L vehicles, expensive cars like Mercedes, BMW and sports car.

erm depends on your needs i guess. some could get by even with a 660cc car but personally, i'd be contented with a 2.5l and up.

Some big CC cars are aspirational cars. For example, Ferrari or Bentley. You don't need them, you might not drive them to the limit, but they are sure as hell nice to own one.

Big CC cars doesn't necessarily mean worse oil consumption but usually more oil is needed in the engine than a smaller cc car.

No you don't need a 2L car. You need a 6L car in Singapore.

I went from 1.3L to 2.5L car to a 2L car. So not necessarily bigger engine all the time.

I find it very difficult to drive a 1.6L car. It just doesn't match my driving style. I need a car that has at least 200bhp and more the merrier. I need, doesn't mean everyone needs it.

It's always so much easier to drive a powerful car. You don't necessarily get anywhere faster but it is sure heck of a lot of fun.

I guess upgrading (esp in Singapore sense) means changing to a car you like better...

Not necessary must be more expensive (coe dependent) , bigger cc or more luxurious...

it all depend on individual definition of "upgrade"...jap to conti -> lexus LS430 to VW Passat..upgrade or downgrade?

more $$ spend -> 5yrs ago, Sunny is prob $80k++, so now use $70k++ to buy Mazda6 or a 2.0L..upgrade or downgrade?

higher engine capacity-> 2.0 Sportage to Audi 1.8TT...upgrade or downgrade?

of course if u r driving a lancer to a bmw..this kind of case is quite obvious..

definitely comparing current technology 1.6L vs current technology 2.0L..the 2.0L will have poorer fuel consumption (similar kind of make and model)..

Apart from Mount faber..there are many steep slopes which a normal sedan with full load will have hard time climbing..even 2.0L may find it tough..

hmmm , to me upgrading means that the new car costs more than the current one...but not necessary a bigger cc

eg change my jap make 1.6 to a 1.4 Volkswagen GT [inlove]
