Seanboi 1st Gear May 29, 2007 Share May 29, 2007 Dun forget, GS charges GST on top of the price of the product. $6.50 for a Thai oil filter. With GST, $6.
Fitzy Neutral Newbie May 30, 2007 Share May 30, 2007 The one i bought at Ric Tat made in Thai oil filter (90915-YZZE1) looks like the fake . Looking through the hole, I could see the filter media exactly like the fake one, mine looks like this - instead of original and also the screw part of the filter that I bought looks like the fake one - instaed of - original I really think that mine is a fake filter. When I go for my 10k, I see the stock oil filter. Here's how to differentiate between genuine and fake oil filter - http://www.nbt-brunei.com/part/knowledge/oil_filter/ For other Toyota parts - http://www.nbt-brunei.com/part/knowledge/ Maybe those bros with Japan made oil filters can upload the pics, thanks. Seanboi 1st Gear May 30, 2007 Share May 30, 2007 bro isnt the Thai ones supposed to be made that way? As for both the Jap ones, they have the same screw part.
Fitzy Neutral Newbie May 30, 2007 Share May 30, 2007 Ya, the Thai made one I got from Ric Tat looks like the fake one (the filter media & the screw part). What abt the filter media for the Japan made one?
Seanboi 1st Gear May 30, 2007 Share May 30, 2007 I tink maybe we shld just email Toyota Japan and ask them wad are the differences. The YZZC5 - filter media abit hard to see. The 90915-10001 - can see the filter medium.

Chuablalan Neutral Newbie June 3, 2007 Share June 3, 2007 it might cause engine oil leaking. Till you dun know. And the filtration might not be as good as original.
Fitzy Neutral Newbie June 9, 2007 Share June 9, 2007 Yesterday, went to Borneo Motor and check out the oil filter at the parts retail counter. Apparently, the original, thai made oil filter did look like the fake one (with paper media). Now can really confirm the one I bought is the genuine. Just now, went down to R*c T*t (RT) to get air filter and oil filter, the owner did notify me to beware of fake filters being sold at very low price (for oil filter, fake is selling at abt $4). He inform me that, the fake oil filter box is slightly diff colour of red. If any bro out there is not sure, you can go down to RT to let them see if it's genuine or fake. Turbonetics 2nd Gear June 9, 2007 Share June 9, 2007 actually oil filter is okay if it's not original ones. as long as it does not leak and can last till servicing, should not be a problem.
Yc86 Clutched June 9, 2007 Share June 9, 2007 Does this alphabet numeral thingy apply to only Toyota filters or ALL filters from japan? i did my servicing today, and used a subaru filter. The product code showed a couple of alphabets, but the box said made in japan, fuji heavy inds.. so was the filter a fake?
Seanboi 1st Gear June 13, 2007 Share June 13, 2007 suzuki can use subaru oil filter meh? If its made by Fuji heavy inds shld be orignal. For e part number, u gotta check online or Subaru's owners manual.
Trex101 3rd Gear June 13, 2007 Share June 13, 2007 No, Suzuki are using 3/4-16 type thread and Subaru are using M20P1.5 type, so it's impossible to be compatible. Suzuki can use Toyota type though. ↡ Advertisement
