Road trip to Ipoh

I encountered no traffic jams, and with a 40min stop at Ayer Keroh (Malaaca), it took me close to 6 hrs at the speed limit to get from Tuas to the Ipoh Exit. (Ipoh seems to have grown a lot, and the new Ipoh Exit is more northern now)

I used www.tripadvisor.com to review ipoh hotels, and decided against spending a nite there. Decided to head straight up to Cameron.

Also wanted to head all the away to Hatyai. But not too sure how long its gonna take ....

I usually try to stay under 120km/h.

Any advise on where to stay at Hatyai ? Have 2 kids travelling with us.

From Hatyai, which route would you recommend to go Phuket ? All the way North on 41 then west on 44 or just keep stay on 4 ?

one driver only, and I m hoping to enjoy the drive and smell the flowers [:p]

alternatively, may set-off a day earlier after work and add a pit-stop at Seremban or KLIA area.

Hi, I would appreciate any advise for Ipoh and Cameron Highlands as thinking of driving up.

I would like to spend 3N in Ipoh and 3N in CH.

1st day exploring the town as likely to arrive only around mid afternoon.

2nd day visit Gua Tempurung and Kellie's Castle.

3rd day visit Lost World of Tambun & Hot Springs

3rd day check out and head for CH.

4th day CH

5th day CH

6th day morning head back to Singapore.

How is the Regalodge Hotel? There seems to be good reviews but is the location central to eating spots.

What time should I set off from Ipoh to CH?

How long is the drive from Ipoh to CH.

Where is a good budget place to stay?

Is the nite market in Brinchang, on every Fridays and weekend nights?

Any suggestion on what not to missed........in CH and Ipoh.....

Cheers!

1. Anyone here have visited Ipoh and stayed there before?

2. I would like to try out this place that I've not been to before. What can you do there and where should I stay to be near to shopping areas and places of interest?

Thank you.

Regards,

you may wish to book a room in either Casuarina or Syuen Hotel. I've stayed in both before and i think they're decent. Clean and big rooms.

both hotels have "Porch Parking" so you don't really have to worry much abt the safety of your car. At Syuen, you've got to pay the valet (subject to availability of lot) but at Casuarina, if there's a lot at the porch, you can just park there (FOC) but i tipped the doorman to ensure that i'll have a lot anytime of the day.

Sorry to bring up an old thread...You mentioned parking at Syuen Hotel needs to pay ? and what is the price ?

(edited)

I stayed at the MH hotel. Free parking. Very new hotel. Surrounding has many outlets, Tesco, Pubs, KTV, eating places. At night, the eating shops is full of people with hundreds of tables. The fried clams I tried was quite good and cheap.

Twincharged

You can try the famous Dimsum resturants (there are 2 opposite each other), within walking distance from Syuen Hotel. Turn Left from Syuen Hotel entrance is a shopping mall (around 4 mins walk). Turn right from Syuen Hotel entrance is the Timsum resturants (located near Excelsior Hotel) around 8 mins walk.
