Road trip to Ipoh

I think Seri is not too far away from Suyuen but Regalodge is nearer to it. Now have to decide between the two. For Regalodge, I can opt for a suite room [;)].

It is a good hotel but pricing is steep. I would only pay that kind of price for a KL hotel.

Yeap, if I remember correctly there is one A & W at the big rest point near Malacca. The one that span across the whole NSH.

Yes, you're right can't seemed to find it on the web. But I'm sure is Hotel Ipoh City, I check back my credit card statement to confirm, it's probably too localised.

While searching the web for the hotel, bump into this thread may be interesting for you. Hotel Ipoh City is mentioned there as well. And Yes, while reading it reminds me of another 'must eat' as mentioned: "Kong Heng, the coffee shop which was famous for its "sar hor fun", chicken rice, satay etc. "

1. Thanks for link. Good feedback from the local themselves.

2. I think Regalodge has wireless lan but not for Seri Malaysia. I will call both up today. I read that Seri Malaysia is popular among the Malaysian, it is just like our kind of chain hotel, Hotel 81.

ok tks.....

I never eat at those rest point before [laugh]

Wow, got burger joint. Got A&W there or not har ?? [rolleyes]

================

Cant remember what burger but it's aircon fast food style. Stopped at that place on my way to Melaka & on another trip to Cameron Highlands.

But still the other open air stalls r very nice & lotsa variety to choose. Only thing is all is Muslim food. I don't remember seeing any Chinese stalls at the rest-stops.

Since no one has tried Regalodge, I will try it out and feedback later. It should be same class as Seri Malaysia Ipoh.

Yup, the hotels in Pangkor Island are damn expensive. Damai Laut would the next best alternative. In fact, no point paying so much to stay in the island when you can cover the attractions in half a day or less.

Bro Kelpie, Casuarina Hotel is also not exactly at the town centre, might as well stay in Syuen (almost same price) especially if you want to do some shopping (across the road you will find Ipoh Parade), healthy massages, or try out the various Ipoh specialities. The other hotels that you've mentioned may not be that convenient. You might as well drive to the places of interests since they are all within an hour's drive, making Ipoh town centre as your base.

I probably go with Regalodge, around the same area as Syuen. Do they have nigh market just like the Jonker walks in Melaka?

Yup, they have pasar malam around the "lou wong ngar choy kai" area. Some roads around the area will be closed in the evening and only pedestrians are allowed. There'll be a night market somewhat like our Temple/Smith St area.

Do they operate every night? I asked because Jonker walks night market only available during weekend.

Hi Bro,

Did you stay at Regalodge eventually ? Would like some feedback on the hotel.

Thinking of making a stop at Ipoh enroute to Phuket.

How long does it take to drive from Sin to Ipoh ?
