Coupe07 Neutral Newbie August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 RE-01R is not lasting on track..... however for street use is good..
Saabretooth 2nd Gear August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 Hey Coupe07, when you say its not lasting on the track, how many laps before it gives way? or what do you say the characteristics of the RE-01R are like? Heard it performs decently and I've seen it used on an alfa on the track before.
Tonylai Neutral Newbie August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 Really expensive tyres. 215/55/R16 cost $190 each! That's the price range for most 17" tyres... Hope they really are good!!!
Coupe07 Neutral Newbie August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 theres a test by japan race drivers on track for: 1. BS RE01R 2. Yoko AD07 3. DUNLOP Z1 1. RE01R gave way on the 4th lap... timing getting worst, grip oso losing 2. AD07 is best. On 9th lap, timing still consistent, grip is still good 3. Dnlop direzza Z1, timing starts to drop on lap 7th. Test is done on the same car, with same drivers. 3 different drivers did the same thing. All gave similar reviews.
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear August 9, 2007 Author Share August 9, 2007 AD07's dry grip is legendary, but wet is So RE01R's not that great... hmmm.... let's see what good in the market in a yr's time (which I estimate my current tyres will probably be worned by then)
Abba Neutral Newbie August 9, 2007 Share August 9, 2007 Interesting that AD07 last only 2-3 hot laps then starts sliding in Sepang, the track temp in Sepang can exceed 50C thus must be hotter than that in Jpn when tested. ALso interesting that in US SCCA, they have to water down AD07 & RTs between runs but not the Hankook R-S2 which loves the heat; the hotter the better. Very suitable for our climate
