Onlyyouknow Neutral Newbie October 9, 2007 Share October 9, 2007 For Mapking 2007 can also get map updates from malsingmaps. Just need to do a really simple conversion from the g10 version. I think a lot of ppl are not aware cos I register with malsingmap and took some time to read about the related topics. There are more PDA+GPS to stand alone users there. Maybe u can pay a visit to learn more. I would like to know what models are there available for PDA phones. I've got a 838 pro and would like to get the GPSr only. Did you have to pay for the software, Mapking 2007? Total damage how much ah? ↡ Advertisement

Prosumer Clutched December 18, 2007 Share December 18, 2007 Hi, If considering GPS receiver(s), what brand and model should one consider? Thanks! Sorry for bringing up old thread as I can't make new. I've read many of the GPS related thread here and finally decide to go with the free malsing maps. As I understand, it works with Garmin GPS devices as well as PDA. Before I buy a Garmin standalone GPS, I'm thinking of trying out the PDA option first and see if the malsing maps is good for my purpose; after all I've a O2 mini lying around collecting dust. Anyway, long story short, would like to find out 1) what GPS receiver brand/model is the best & what's the damage? 2) does this PDA+GPSr+bluetooth setup have TTS (text to speech; "turn left 50m..")? I'll be setting this up in my ride. In fact, if anyone can loan me a GPS receiver to test out this setup before I get a standalone Garmin, it'll be great ;) Thanks for viewing! Prosumer Clutched December 19, 2007 Share December 19, 2007 (edited) Ya, planning to "play around" with the old pda first, but must get a GPS receiver. Anyway, I've found this new HG100 HUD GPS receiver from eastgear, very cool can project the stats on the windscreen some more . Anyone use it before? I did a search here and no result. http://www.eastgear.com/shop/product_info....roducts_id=1045 Initiall, i wanted to get the rikaline as I read it has auto-on (unit on when u start the car and off when u off the ignition) which may be useful; the Holux does not have this feature? However, it seems like eastgear do not have rikaline anymore? Also, I know malsing maps can get free, but where to get the map king maps for PDA? Thanks!
