Miketow Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Just expressing my utter disgust and agitation with the system. My almost new IU "died" once a few months ago ( in my 6 month old car then) and because everything revolves around that stupid IU - 1) My season parking affected 2) Cannot park in car parks that required auto IU sensing 3) Cannot go through ERP gantries Bascally CRIPPLED!! I had to take half day off to get it sorted out. After it got fixed - it DIED again - so LTA had to replace it. Now barely 3 months later - IT HAS DIED AGAIN!!!! I have to get to work, so I drive through the ERP gantry with a dead IU (what choice!?) LTA is taking forever to get back to me of the situation - and I refuse to/cannot take any time off to sort this thing out AGAIN. ( I am a lowly wage earner!) Not everyone is a 2.2 million man who can suka suka take time off to sort out inferior government required r0ad pricing equipment!!! I AM SICK OF THIS sxxt!! Any bros got same experience or know how I can sort this out?? ↡ Advertisement

Nhrisuzu 1st Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 chalk up all the summons from ERP and shoot back at them when they ask why u never pay up.. but honestly, how can an IU fail so many times??
Octopus 3rd Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 I also having some minor problem with my IU unit.... the display is getting rather dim, even at night it is difficult (still manageable) to see the value of my cash card....

GoopPwr Clutched May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 my ex-boss's IU had a similar problem. After kena fined, eventually found out unit faulty. He had to go back few times becos subsequent unit(s) ??? also faulty. Each time he's got to take time off to do it, he's the CEO so no need to take leave or such, but heck, he is the one bringing the sales, who is going to compensate the company ? All these becos someone decided it is not necessary to take that 2 0r 3 minutes to check it. Each time he was told... sir if you have nay problem, just come back and we will check for you... My ex-boss was an expat so he did not know better so each time he " just follow law "
Miketow Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Author Share May 14, 2007 Adawang - Are u serious or just being sarcastic b/c I cannot imagine LTA bothering to micromanage a commoner's problem by driving a van to my place to fix this.
Fortress Clutched May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Had mine shorted out my car, three times...
Huggable Clutched May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 What to do? The "brilliant" LTA engineer decided that the IU power should be tapped from the car's brake pedal. Had my brake lights all not working because of an IU fault. Worst case was that I didn't realised it!
Nutty 4th Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 Your IU spoilt 3 times? Maybe something wrong with your electrical circuit in your ride.
Miketow Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Author Share May 14, 2007 I doubt it - its a new car- and everything else works - like it should - except that damn IU.
Stary Turbocharged May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 (edited) My own car IU unit so far ok after 3 years, but I had one died on a replacement car that was loaned to me by the agent. I can understand how troublesome it is, especially when it's not even my car! The agent told me they can't repair it and I have to bring it to Vicom. I have to take leave and all that. Even my own car IU kind of erratic. It can't read one of my cashcards, but all other machines from ATM machine to car park machines can. Weird. After so many years, and collected so much ERP, can they come out with something more robust? Edited May 14, 2007 by Starry
Tckrto 2nd Gear May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 i oso think the problem is his ride rather den the IU unit.
Lorbinhoot Neutral Newbie May 14, 2007 Share May 14, 2007 I doubt it - its a new car- and everything else works - like it should - except that damn IU. Better check it out bro. Although it's a New Car but not everything is 100% every time. Maybe it's short circuit or leakage or something like that. Now u did not see others item of your car having problem but doesn't mean that u won't see it in longer times. Just assuming that the IU breakdown becos it's "wire" are those of normal/thinner compare to those used in Car are of much better quality/thicker/durable. It may be burning inside and by the time u realize it. It may be too late liao. Go back to your service center and ask them to check your Car voltage for any short circuit or leakage would be better. ↡ Advertisement
