Budget lotus?!

I find that Proton has cheapen the 'Lotus' brand and it's asset. Proton should have reserved the 'lotus-tuned' status to their flagship/special model. By using it on all the bread and butter models....just make the 'lotus-tuned' tag looks and feel ordinary.

And this PM5 is just another of move that 'kill' their only money making brand further. They should have just say that the PM5 will be lotus-tuned instead of a 'budget-Lotus'. But again...the 'lotus-tuned'is already so 'cheap' and 'common'....no more snob appeal. I'm not saying that Lotus-tuned cars are rubbish...just that the term is too loosely used.

Think Proton should think of how to save their own A** before saying coming out this or that... They couldn't even push out cars that would meet the majority of the market demand... Proton... Why look so far when recent or existing problems are still there?

Neutral Newbie

Well, Lotus Elise uses a Toyota 2zz vvtl-i. The issue is whether Proton will license the 2zz vvtl-i or some decent engine technology. Their campro.... (even without trying out) doesn't score points, like vtec or vvtl-i. [shakehead]

i think proton might fit this car with a supercharger from Kleemann since there news that both company are working together.... and campro engine does have the so call v-tec ready which they name it as CPS cam profile switching which is under development been years on development but god knows wat happening.... Might also possible that they took the current V6 from perdana super or turbo charged it... just my guess hahaaa [laugh][laugh]

Dun hold your breath bro. this was done before in the opel/vauxhall speedster and it flopped. Mind you IMHO, opel/vauxhall has much better building credentials and marketing know-how than proton.

I thought Waja was already a budget Lotus a few years back?

I remember Proton's CEO was quoted as saying that the Savvy could be thought of as "My first Lotus"
