I honestly am not sure if it is made in Japan or not, but I haven't heard anything to the contrary. As far as I know, the local Nissan line up is all made in Japan.

I think get the cheap Lancer better than the very dated Sunny. Sunny's look also very uncle too.

agree to ur pts. However, my cousin is driving a lancer, rather bad reviews from him as well as fuel consumption, which is why im hesitating on that right now. Paying half of a 100k for a car is quite a huge commitment, which is why im trying to think it carefully now first [:)]

Hmm, y no one mention Daihatsu? Daihatsu made in Japan also right?

Daihatsu Sirion auto cost $48K++, u can check out the very long Daihatsu Sirion thread in MCF. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=906121;

Also have Daihatsu Materia and Daihatsu Terios

lancer and sunny (auto) selling around $51K right now right?

Also, if u want cheap point A-B Jap car, can also consider Subaru R1 and R2 ($42K++). Not too sure how much Mit-i cost now, but also MIJ.

i think for me 1st priority is auto trans, too tired off driving manual [:p]

Even if you want auto, still lancer and sunny the cheapest made in Japan. FC for both about the same. Both EOL model, but Lancer still looks good and slightly smaller and sunny has 7 free servicing to 50k.

Yes, lancer FC may not as good as vios or latio. But how long you need to drive a vios or latio to compensate the ~5k price different? I test drive the latio before, not worth paying the extra money for it.

1. FC [hur]. I used to monitor the FC very closely when I first owned car. I even prepared a spreadsheet and look at the consumption trend. After a while, I gave up, if want to enjoy driving, mustn't be too concern about FC (of course, within reasonable range). If really so FC concerned, you better buy a sub 1L car and stick to 80km/h at most.

2. Drive a car must feel good and be part of the car or the car be part of you [sunny].

3. Actually 50K is really nothing to shout about these days. Who will ever know that the COE can be so low now compare with few years back where people paid 100+K for a Collora?

In the first place, what are you looking for in a car? Listening to ppl tell you this car no good, that car no good won't be much help bcoz such things are subjective to the individual.

Lancer is a very practical family car. It may not be best in anything compared to other cars in its class, but it will not be the worst in anything either. You know what they call a jack of all trades but master of none?

Every car have its pros and cons. The most important thing are to enjoy your ride. Fellow Singaporean will keep the ride for less than 5 year and change to a new model.

Hard to say, if bought the car at wrong timing, how to sell within 5 years? Sure lose until drop pants [sweatdrop].

Yeah... Unfortunately, Daihatsu seriously under-rated... [:(]

People tend to think of pickups first when hearing Daihatsu... [:|]

I'm happy with my ride though... and seeing more on the roads too...

So, hopefully situation will improve... [flowerface]
