Hi All,

It's been a long time since I posted in here. Currently looking for a new car around the budget of $60k. I understand that this kind of topic has been discuss quite regularly, but market changes all the time, so hopefully the experts here can help me.

Basic needs is that it has to be a 4 or 5 doors.

FC has to be reasonably good, as it will be drive around pretty much. sweatdrop.gif

And of coz, workmanship of the car. thumbsup.gif

So, any recommendation? Oh.. And also any reasons for the recommendation? So I can weigh the difference..

Thanks in advance!!

i would consider kia cerato premium edition over avante

Altis would be an excellent choice. Best selling car in the world, can never go wrong, even if its a dated model.

Other than that, Avante or a Mazda 3 would be great. FC wise claims to be bad, but honestly, its only abit not as great.

And the usual Honda City, Jazz, Nissan Latio, Sunny, Mitsubishi Lancer, Colt, Subaru TS, Suzuki Swift.

How about the Vios? Or Latio? There are a few cars in the 60k cat... Depends on your needs. If you want sedan, high tech-ness and good FC, then Latio or Sylphy( Add abt 5k more) If you want normal sedan, then get the Vios.... How about Mazda 3SP?

My experience with Altis (bought in May 2005):

1) suspension sqeek when passing over hump in the first year. Got it changed.

2) suspension sqeek when passing over hump before 2 year is up.

3) steering rattling sound when turning on uneven road. Complaint this since 1 or 5 K servicing. BM din solve the problem

4) drive shaft changed before 2 year is up.

5) my altis seem to be able to take Caltex Gold and Plat only. Other brands including V-power, engine will have grinding sound (suspect engine knock). BM technician say normal ask me to stick with Ron 98 Petrol. [furious]

Too pissed [furious][knife] so traded in Altis for Latio. IMHO, stay away from altis.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the inputs. Personally I'm a little biase against Korean cars.. (no offence to owners of Korean car). So Japan or conti car would be nice.

Is the new Nissan still as fuel hungry as before? I used to drive a sunny, and the FC is so high.. smallcry.gif

Yeah, Was thinking of Altis, Jazz, Latio (HB), colt+.

How much is mazda3 now? Is swift good? I haven't check that out yet.. Heard TS is very high on FC right?

Hi newbie here.

Believe e issue of what car to buy at 60k range is really subjective to your own needs n wants?

My bias stand based on stock as follow :

Chi - Strictly for pt A to pt B, value for $$$, but what technology?!!

Kor - Strictly for pt A to pt B, value for $$$, but do e Koreans really know how to make cars?

Jap - SG fav for resale value but why bother to sign e dotted line when u already intend to sell? And who says tomyam Altis n Vios r best in FC?

MY - Strictly for pt A to pt B, value for $$$, qn: why our neighbours give such negative comments to e 2 brands?

Conti - Best for NSH, better at higher speed.

I have to admit i drive a conti and locally FC is a big concern, i wonder why i can be having it as good as e Jap top sellers when i rev pretty hard at 3 - 5k rpm vs jap style 2k rpm? And for your info car is stock.

End of e day, it's e driver not e car.

Bro, from your requirement, FC good, 4-5door, Good build quality and Jap cars.

Colt+ - fat ass and the shape is more suitable for ladies.

Altis - thai made and too common on road, replacement coming soon as well.

Jazz - Quite old model too, has been facelifted twice already. Not much power if full load.

Mazda3 - good handling and quality but lesser interior space compared to Altis or Latio. And FC for Mazda is always condemned by many people, though it's only 1-2km/l difference.

It has to be Latio (HB only)...cos I find Sedan model looks arkward...

Coupled with nice body kit in black or white and nice set of wheels, it looks good...and I think the interior space is the best among the list you mentioned...

It's the overall best package for 60k budget.

Agree Toyota has a few models that are best selling, Corolla, Camry, Picnic....but then they have never gotten any good reviews so far...funny... [rolleyes]
