Hi wave.gif

Need some advice from the pros...

Currently basic setup

HU-Sony GT700

Front Speakers-Helix Blue Component

Rear Speakers-Helix Blue Coxial

Active Sub-Steelemate

Soundproofing-Front doors double layers

Question: [ol] [*]Do I get an amps to power the speakers or do I sound proof rear doors or replace rear coxial with component? [*]If get amps should I get 4 channel for all speakers or just a 2 channel for the front? [*]Or would it better to get X02 2 channel amps for all speakers? [*]If amps do breakdown, what is the repair cost between 2 and 4 channel?[/ol]

Thanks for any adivce.

hi there.

ic u usin sony HU, do u intend to go active in future?

my opinion, IF possible,

ditch the steel mate and ditch changing rear spkrs, get a 4 channel amp , 2 channels bridge to power a proper 10" sub behind, 2 channels power front stage.

this will give u the best result.

if not, then get 4 channel amp lor, 2x 2 channel amp, waste space.

haha

cheers

Hi bro,

I think bro Headshok has addressed most of your concern from 1 to 3. Just want to add for your Qn 4 is that if you get a local set, then most likely you have a warranty for 1 year (plse check with your distributor). But plse know that the warranty does not cover wear and tear of amps. But if you get an export set...you may spend much more $$ later for repairs esp if it is Pioneer product where they would charge you 3 times for their labour costs.

Cheers

Think our man here is driving a hatchback. He's not going to give up his boot space.

To add on, for a hatch, it should be relatively easy to get bass into the car, and a 10inch should do fine, prob even a shallow mount type (got some compromise lah..). And these don't really take up that much space.

If not, then actully the best 'band-aid' is to ensure that the helix's mid bass is strong/tight enough, and that will prob still give u most of the kick... (have not heard the helix before, however, for example the pioneer prs mid bass can handle the double bass in diana krall's All or Nothing at All not too badly without the sub [thumbsup] )

Not a real fan of back speakers for now, but that said, different strokes... there was a time i did.. [laugh][laugh] rock and roll man...

If not getting a sub, i would go for a 2 ch for now... next time itch then add on again. If getting a sub... depends on the power rating lor... it needs sufficient juice to play properly. Its going to be a trade off between space saving (as headshok has said) vs some flexibility in future upgrading (and not stuck to the power ratings of the one 4 ch amp)

Go and listen to more hatch-back setups. That would give you more clues as to what you really want.

Will do so if have the time. But the little boot space is essential for me to carry my bowling balls. wink.gif

Since you have the active sub placed underneath your seat, you can then explore the possibility of getting a 2chn for your front component. No need that kinda boom boom shake shake the room type [thumbsup]
