Parking at Causeway Point

Was at Causeway Point last weekend.

The car park is divided into 2 sections, mainly basement and other levels.

You have to decide where you want to park when you enter the car park.

I usually choose the basement levels.

For basement, there are B2 nd B3 levels.

When I enter the car park last weekend, there was no parking lots after I circled the entire basement car park for 3 rounds, end up I park illegally at the side of a wide road (without blocking anyone).

This is an electronic carpark, that is, ERP like system. I am allow to enter the car park but there are no parking lots. A lot of other cars also park along double yellow lines in the car park but without causing obstructions to anyone. There are notices posted around the car park saying that we would be wheels clamp and got to pay $105 to get the clamp removed.

This makes my wife uncomfortable and I end up quarrel with her!!!!

My take is:

1. The moment I enter the car park and as it is an electronic car park, I am charge the minute I make my entry and therefore there should be a lot for me to park. And if there is no lot, then I could park in a place so that I do not cause obstruction.

2. If there is no lot, then why allow cars to enter??

My Wife's take is:

1. As long as no proper mark out lots, cannot park, the management reserves the right to wheel clamp. So may end up paying $105 just to go home!! She is worried.

Yesterday, I went to Bugis, there was no lot and I am made to wait outside for 25 mins before I am allowed to enter the car park. For this case, I am willing as my reason is:

1. If you can't wait, you can always turn back.

2. I am charge only when I am allow to enter the car park and only when there is a lot available.

What is your say?

Sorry, I so long winded.

Usually Causeway Pt have security guards to guide traffic entering to the basement carparks at the entrance on weekends and also electronic signage to show if carpark is full.

Do agree with you. As long as you don't obstruct traffic, its okay. After all, you were allowed in to park.

Did park along double yellow lines when I went to TTSH basement carpark a couple of times.

you are indeed quite long winded & abit un decisive.

you won't get wheel clamp that's for sure if it's at peak hour & ERP parking system implied. As long you didn't cause obstruction.

yah, been there many times, prefer the basement carpark also, unless carpark full, during which the security will pull a sign board across the entrance to the basement carpark....

so far, have no problem finding a proper parking lot there, most people won't go to B3 one (only park there once, the rest of time, normally park at B2, wait a while will have place one).. [;)]

i go there all the time.. so far only parked in the basement once as it's a wkday and late at night and had to cross over to civics plaza for ktv.

but i still prefer to park in the upper decks esp on wkends because there're plenty of space right up top.

anyway it's no big issue. they won't clamp u during peak hours.

No lot at all at B2 and B3? or just B2?

If I'm not wrong, the system at Causeway point will not open the barrier if it's full..

anyway, small matter... park and go off.. or go off and park at civic plaza if you are worry about the $105fine..

no need to bang balls with wife.. but it's good to have some fire.. [sweatdrop]
