Online Transaction between seller and buyer using Singpass.

Seller "sell" his car on onemotoring using his SIngpass and entered Buyer details.

Buyer received SMS and can login to onemotoring to Accept the transaction using his/her Singpass. At this time you be prompted for payment of Transfer Fee $25 (and/or road tax). Choose Credit Card and the process be like any Credit Card transaction online

Thanks. What if the seller is selling the car with the balance of road tax (say 3 months) before the next renewal?

With the old practice, the LTA officer would ask if the road tax to be transferred to the buyer or seller gets the refund at the counter.

Road tax follow the car. Seller cannot take it back unless car is scrap then got LTA refund.

Seller normally worked out their sum well which factor in the balance road tax. Often seller sell when their road tax left a month or less..

More likely they want to make sure your cheque don't bounce and hence the 2 days wait to transfer.

Just buy a CO and request to transfer on the spot. Or bring cold hard cash.

May i know can a person do a transfer of the car ownership to another person without the person knowing? Specially that person is a son of the car owner and without a driving license.

Transfer of ownership can be done through Online via SingPass/CorpPass 2FA. That means it requires your singpass and 2FA in order to proceed. You do not need a driving license to transfer.

Thank you, let say these 2 persons are related. What happen if the 1st owner now driving this car and got into an accident. Will the new owner get into trouble?

It depends on the type of insurance bought. If insurance can cover, then no problem. If not the new owner will need to pay for the repair as is under his name now.
