Mike, 1 thing for sure. You will never ever see a BMW taxi on the rd in S'pore.

Management does not want to hurt the branding and image of this marque.

Yap, they have been trying hard to do that. In else where, a Taxi driver drive his own car, be it an accent or BMW and join a Taxi company.

BMW being an established upmarket brand and with so many sophisticated onboard computerised gadgets, I do not anticipate that it will be used as taxis. Furthermore, I do not think that the management of BMW would want their cars to be used as taxis for prestige reason.

Mercedes Benz though are at par with BMW in terms of status but the former with lesser computerised components are easier and cheaper to maintain. Moreover, only the Merc E series is used for taxis.

The above is my personal view.

I was at outram area when i saw a Azera, initially i thought it was a consumer car than i saw the SHB plate and the taxi sign on its roof, its a all white car. Nice car i should say V6 emblem on the back with twin exhaust! Not sure wat fuel is it running on.... It good for us consumer for cab company to bing in more kinds of car. Seat on the Sonata and Magentis before its just great~

What you have said is very true, at least for the Singapore market.

/[reply]

u cannot compare a new korean euro IV diesel engine to an old jap euro 2 engine.

not say jap or korean better, but simply, no basis for comparison [;)]

yes i think hyundai engine is quiet.

compared to toyota.

take for example altis and avante. lucky they didn't use avante as taxi but i see silver cab as great foresight and see the further. silver cab will rule.

quite smart of them to bring in kia and hyundai.

when taxi company bring in this model. i believe it prove that this car is good meaning no problem and safe to own 1.

but 1 thing i got to say bringing kia is okay but skoda is senless.

cos spare part is hard to hard, and not cheap either. those taxi driver everyday lup so much wear and tear sure very fast unless they can get spare part.

hyundai not so jailat. even comfort using sonata. and since they are in business with komoco i am very sure komoco will provide their best service tough i'm not satisfied with their service to be honest.

The Sonata Taxis has better pick ups than the Crowns & Cedrics, and much quieter too.

Took 1 recently when I decide not to drive for a couple of days. The comfort level is good!

But the one I took does not signal whenever the fella change lane. Oops OT.
