Remember when double cab(four doors) pickup was popular 10 years ago, the government quickly imposed super high tax on such pickups to prevent normal citizens from using it as family car.

Check out this new Peogeot VAN.....drives like a car, looks like a car, infact it looks good. Diesel fuel is cheap. Got petrol version also (like the petrol version Kangroo van)

I hope the gov will not come up with some new law to overtax this type of VAN to death.

If this is priced at ~$35k.....wow....it would be a best seller.....if only this was launched during the goodsvehicle $1 a few months back!

we've all seen van-based cars... now its car-based vans!

we won't know till this vehicle is sent to LTA for homologation...

it's about time LTA removes the silly tax on diesel powered passenger cars!!!

who can tell if ur going above 70kph?? from far there is no way of telling that it's a G-plate vehicle...

malaysian customs may be fooled to let you enter, considering they're not very on the ball in the first place... personalised plates in the future may make identifiying these van/cars difficult too...

Yes speed limit may be 70km/hr....but hey....just don't get caught if you want to speed.

In fact 70km/hr is ample speed for ordinary road in Singapore.

Expressway speed of 80-90km/hr is a risk....but HEY.....the TP with speed camera on overhead bridge will not easily realised its a van, unless there is some tell tale sign...like the TP got super sharp eagle eye can spot the licence plate fast enough!

70km/h may be ok for you but it will be a pain to drive on motorways for me. I doubt a TP can be fooled easily these days. Anyway, still a good option for businesses that require such a car.

1. I bet you that they will come out with a personalized plate system that covered all those mentioned loopholes.

2. By the way, do you think the current vintage and "nice" plate number prices will fall drastically with the launch of the personalized plate system?

errr... I saw this "van" in the Peugeot-UK website a couple of years back leh which is base on a 206.

But didn't know it might come here. A 207 somemore.

they may exclude commercial vehicles from being able to adorn personalised plates....

if peronalised plates come in, only the very old numbered plates will retain value... but it still depends on how the personalised plates are priced...

Probably the S plate will still command demand. Anyway, it will be rather risky to invest in old plate at this moment.

TP sent sunmon base on licence plate or base on your ride? What is speed CAMERA for? it is to catch you speeding and record down you licence plate. So base on licence plate, they will know what type of ride you are driving, dun need super eye.

I doubt this will be accepted as a goods vehicle. It comes in the same classification as a normal wagon/estate car, just that it is smaller size and doesn't have rear windows.

If not my Mondeo Wagon can also pull off as Van?? [laugh][laugh]

at times, people don't buy those number plate for the sake of selling off, much less make a profit.
