Evilernie 4th Gear April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 Does your car have those engine lights? Can check your manual, suspect could be your idle or throttle sensor faulty.

Huggable Clutched April 24, 2007 Share April 24, 2007 If one spark plug was loose (they call it 3-piston fire), your car will vibrate badly. The rpm problem seems to have nothing to do with it. If you cold start the car, the auto-choke might push up the rpm, so as to warm up the engine. Else, some of the sensors might have konged up already. Get C&C to do a thorough check, please. Kb27 Supersonic April 25, 2007 Share April 25, 2007 It has something to do with the throttle body idling circuit. The last time, I took it out to clean; I didn't put it back properly, after starting car, the rpm will shoot to redline. Got to make sure that the gasket on the throttle body is properly seated with no air gaps and all the screws are tightened. Any air leak around the throttle body will cause the idling rpm to shoot up.
Apollo 1st Gear April 25, 2007 Share April 25, 2007 more likely ur ECU/ sensor problem.. becos everything u start car is in Open throttle mode, meantime, ECU perform diagnostic to ensure system functioning. after the sensor pick up the signal and sent back to ECU, the circuit is closed and engine will run based on sensor. Elantrahatch Neutral Newbie April 25, 2007 Share April 25, 2007 Had the same problem as yours not too long ago. Was in Marina Square car park when my idling was around 2500rpm. Only could attribute it to a dirty throttle body (am on K&N).. so got out of the car park, went to Esplanade drive and try to rev it away (under 4000rpm). Seconds later, back to normal. So far, the problem did not re-occur. ↡ Advertisement
