Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie January 3, 2008 Share January 3, 2008 any idea why they didn't want to setup the stations somewhere more central?wakao... jurong island, mandai, jln buroh... pianz..travel that distance to pump.. might as well go a bit further and straight into jb, over 50% savings Then I have to upgrade to 2 tanks and the roof too like SBS then they know .... got $ wattt ....LOL
Solar Turbocharged January 3, 2008 Share January 3, 2008 That's where the gas pipeline runs. That is why it is on the west. and for the serangoon station they'll also have to run pipes? thought can be transported by some tanker trucks...so, if that's feasible, dun really make sense not to set up in central area, unless probably cost issue? Solar Turbocharged January 3, 2008 Share January 3, 2008 might as well drive a tanker truck and transport the gas home

Genie47 1st Gear January 4, 2008 Author Share January 4, 2008 Transport with tankers carrying cylinders is called the mother-daughter setup. See if the petrol station companies are up to it. They have to allocate space on their station to store those cylinders.
Genie47 1st Gear January 4, 2008 Author Share January 4, 2008 Yes. It was supposed to be last year but SembGas and CityGas had some politicking on who runs the station or the payment of the setup of the station. In the end SMART taxi decided enough is enough and used their own money to develop the Mandai one. Jln Buroh on the other hand is initiated by SPC. Age1298 Neutral Newbie January 4, 2008 Share January 4, 2008 Yo Bros, collected my car from Melchers today!! Look out for a red Toyota picnic with CNG label ya. Packed a few heavyweights into the car and took off. Did not feel a lag in performance even on slopes. Even when stopped on slope and accelerated off, did not feel too much of a lag in performance. However, noted that with heavy footing, the gas will also tend to run out faster so will need to review driving practice even though there are large savings with CNG. Installation was tidy and no compliants on the workmanship. May consider a two tank system in future, if have the $$ to go with the thule system. Understand that to add another tank will be around $400 to $500. Present setting is to start off with petrol and thereafter gas all the way. Will monitor consumption to see if this needs to be fine tuned for better savings. Presently understand that Jurong Island pumps are out and thus will explore the various pumps in Mal, to see which is most convenient.
Loki Supersonic January 4, 2008 Share January 4, 2008 Can I ask where exactly is the tank located in your car? Also, how long did installation take? TIA
Age1298 Neutral Newbie January 4, 2008 Share January 4, 2008 In general, the Toyota Picnic has a sunken boot space and the 58L tank is placed within it. Although the boot can accomodate a larger tank, due to maintenance space required all round the tank, only the 58L tank will fit. Melchers turned around my car within 2 days, this is pretty good considering that they also had to test drive and tune the CNG ECU as well.
