Power Steering

For some reasons my Power Steering don't seems to be as firm as before.

Kind of spongy & less tight. Don't seems to return to its netural stage fast.

Angle wise, I tend to need to turn excessly more at every turn too.

The left signal light at times does not gets disactived & I need to turn a wider angle towards the right to disactive the left signal light.

What could be the problem? Any advice?

Check the drive belt for loosness and check fluid level.Once the fluid goes far too low the preset level , chance of air bubbles being built up in the system - resulting in less positive steering actions.

Hello, according to my airwave manual, i cant find any power steering fluid in the bonnet.

Is it a standard for all power steering to run on fluid?

Thanks a million!

Not all vehicle uses hydraulic for power steering..... Example Honda Civic 1.6 and 2.0 uses electric in their power steering. nod.gif

Hello! This is my first post (sorry for digging old thread up, but new member cannot start new thread? so i decided to dig this up)

I just pass driving few days ago. I drive my dad's car today (nissan march (96)) and his power steering has already gave way. As a new driver, it is really a challenge for me to drive without power steering. I heard from my dad the entire pump has already gave way and this old car doesn't have anymore of the power steering spare parts.

Any brother here can help me? I'm looking for the entire power steering for nissan march, 96 version. 2nd hand can already.

Oh ya, just to add on, the car's clutch (as compared to my instructor's lancer GLX) is too soft and sometime's it feels like that it is not depressed.

The brakes too! There are slacks on the brake and it takes me to press it down nearly all the way to get the brakes. The brakes aren't responsive.

Sometimes it just feels like there isn't any brakes unless u press it all down (which leads to me becoming so close to the car infront.) However, my dad say he just replaced the brake pad.

Is this just a matter of familarising the car?

Thanks!

You could head back to Tan Chong for them to check your car out and to replace whatever part as I suppose you got your car from them.

ADs are obliged to keep cars' spare parts even after they are phased out.

Of course, prepare your $$$$$$.

Tan Chong is new parts rite? Since it is an old car, i am thinking of 2nd hand, might be cheaper. How about the brake and clutch problem i face? isit normal?

The driver is more serious than the car [shakehead] . Sell away the car before he get involved in accidents. I believe we need your co-operation for everyone's road safety.

Looking at the fault lists, I would strongly suggest that you give top priority to brakes and clutch.

If normal brake service to bleed trapped air in the brake circuit cannot solve the brake problem, brake master pump may be defective.

At the mean time, drive very carefully, and leave more front gap, especially going down ramp and highway.
