Vit4wd 1st Gear April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 This crash occured right after a series of bends, as illustrated in the picture below. So much said about good tyres, low profile tyres, All Wheel Drive (AWD), car with good road holding etc. this car in question still crashed despite being a "Sports Sedan" wearing high end low profile sports tyres. So what is the use of excellent tyres, big rims with low profile tyres, cars with great road holding when it still crashes eventually... under dry road conditions? In contrast, my lousy low end skinny '175' Yokohama Aspec A300 tyres with "poor-grip-in-the-wet" have served me well and stuck on to the road like glue and has never failed me even in wet conditions. So what do you think is the cause behind this accident? - Speeding? - Lousy tyres? - Car has poor handling? Please drive carefully and be alert at all times. Life is precious! * I hope the driver is well and unhurt. ↡ Advertisement
Fitzy Neutral Newbie April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 I must say it's not the car or the tyre at fault. It's the driver who's to be blame for the crash. Maybe he's trying out the bend to see if it suit for F1 in s'pore

macrosszero Turbocharged April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 Where is it? In slippery conditions skinny tires might actually be better than wide tires - see the rallycars in snow/gravel/mud rallies. They use pretty narrow tires, best exemplified by the ice stages. With any tire, it is the onus of the driver not to exceed the tire's limit. Otherwise you're going to crash all the same. You haven't had an accident because you know to stay within the tire's ability.

Bluenuts Neutral Newbie April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 Many reason to a car crash. On the top of the list is always the driver. Far second is the animal (dogs, cats, etc) that jump in front of the car suddenly.

Jian Neutral Newbie April 10, 2007 Share April 10, 2007 some time the driver went too fast chicken out decide not to mess with the bend. jam the brake last min? casuing the car to lost control and crash?
Aimnfire 4th Gear April 11, 2007 Share April 11, 2007 could be because of the road too the road is not level but instead it is slightly tilt opposite of the corner direction this is dangerous cause no matter what speed if u are not carefull your car tend to veer off eg bedok corner
Falc 3rd Gear April 11, 2007 Share April 11, 2007 IS200 is not considered a sports car. The RS maybe. Anyway, not surprise that it crashes, that's why sporty makes have higher insurance because there are more claims.

Speedsun Clutched April 11, 2007 Share April 11, 2007 Given the best handling car in the world to a lousy/careless driver, the best car will still crash. The chances of car crashes mostly depend on the drivers and not only how bad are those cars. ↡ Advertisement
