Will we ever see a <$40K Japanese competitor to Kelisa and Picanto? If only STS brings in the Trevis.

Daihatsu Trevis

I find it really cute, may prefer this to Kelisa and Picanto. Too bad Singapore only have Sirion and Materia.

Daihatsu's new Trevis city car. With retro styling that apes the general look of the original Mini (with two extra doors, of course), the little Trevis is easy on they eyes. Where it really shines, however, is at the pump. City cars are fuel misers and the Daihatsu is no exception. Its 58-horse 1.0L DOHC 3-cylinder is good for 20.8km/L in the European city/hwy combined cycle when equipped with the 5-speed manual. If equipped with the optional 4-speed automatic, it drops to 17km/L.

The run to 100km/h takes 12.2 seconds. Not bad when you consider the power, and certainly not a real issue in dedicated urban driving, where you're stopping and going all the time anyway.

The interior has a refreshingly clean layout that carries the modern/retro styling inside. The driver is met with an attractive instrument cluster and an available MOMO leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Wrong!

Kelisa is based on the Daihatsu Cuore

Kenari is based on the Daihatsu Move

I drive Daihatsu so i know a little.

Daihatsus are great cars.

A Daihatsu is essentially a rebadged Toyota without the Toyota $$$ premium.

Eg. Daihatsu Sirion 1.3l shares the same engine as the Toyota Yaris 1.5l, but detuned to 1.3l, and you save $10K off the purchase price.

Can i correct you on that? Most of the time is Toyota are re-badge Daihatsu.

The Toyota Rush is actually a Daihatsu Terios

The Toyota Passo is actually a Daihatsu Boon/Sirion

I am not so sure of the Materia/Coo since bB has a cult in Japan

I know Daihatsu rebadge the Camry to a Daihatsu Altis

i take picanto anytime.

i find this extremely ugly. its not cute looking, not vintage looking its just nothing

no room to doll this up. unlike picanto. i've seen really nice looking picanto on the streets

but with the fuel consumption, really worth the money.

I agree that this Trevis might not be a nice looking car but i still prefer this to a Picanto... The Chevy Spark looks better than Picanto anytime....
