maybe you can try to ram into the barrier at the other side to bend it back? [sly]

if the barrier arm is damaged, it will cost about $100 to $200 to replace, depending on materials used.

Yes I agree with you. Such things....should only cost that amount. Anything more than that, I believe is inflated by huge margins.

But as we know there is no "perfect market" situation...so usually they will just get anyone (ie Co Z Pte Ltd) convenient to replace it. Co Z might have bought it from Co Y and Co Y bought it from Co X ...... to Co A Pte Ltd. Some times this is the case especially for speciality markets....not consumer / common stuff.

I think the only thing to do is to hope they find a good/cheap repair. You can't really influence them to use another cheaper workshop coz usually these repairs are carried out the next day as it's deemed as "urgent".

Sorry to hear abt your incident, you know sh*t happens.

Part and parcel of learning and driving in Singapore.

I personally seen a hit and run at Changi T2, SUV whacked the barrier going into MSCP, I flashed him and he used his rear fog to flash me... [hur]

My personal experience on "barrier snapping" was many years back in the army when I was driving a Unimog to 6 Div and I forgot my vehicle had 2 large antennas at the back; as the barrier was released by the RP, I drove the past the sentry post and when I saw people shouting...I thought "Siow already ! [:/] "

When I came out of the vehicle the pole was parallel to the road. RSM 6 Div give me a light 7 extra duties back at my camp.

As I recall, it's about $700 for the longer length barrier.

If u can get the short one, might b cheaper.

Usually the barrier will bend/break at the point of being secured to the lifting arm. Maybe they can cut off the 1/2 foot section & use back the same piece? Wil save u some $$$.

If u can "slow talk" to the management, u might b able to get a "cheaper option".

Sometimes, they even have a "spare" old barrier in the store which they might "sell" u at a big discount. It's how u talk to them now. sly.gif

what if replace by bamboo pole.. tongue.gif few poles bundled together are much stronger than plastic/rubber barrier.. smile.gif

Neutral Newbie

Bro, if that is the exact barrier which you posted in the thread, it is of "NICE" brand..

If you need a quote, you can call the following:-

LTM Automation Enterprise

Tel: 6846-1368

P.S. - I am in no way related to the company, just helping out a fellow bro here...

Else you can do a search in yellow pages, should be able to find a few suppliers easily...

some sort of, anyway, went back to the condo yesterdae evening,

the barrier is still working, but it was bended forward about 20-30 degree from it origin

actualli the bending point is on the metal part attached to the lifting tingy,

dint manage to talk to the mgt, but seen the whole is still in use, damage shou be okie reasonable rite?

============================

Can try. Bamboo is also quite expensive nowadays. [laugh] Maybe they sud invent a barrier which is very flexible & wil bend instead of breaking. [idea] Like that everybody wil save money. Use a big "spring" as a barrier. [thumbsup]

If i were you, i would have offered to have it fixed and get a quotation first. The sky is the limit for them. Don't know what else may be added to the bill.

I do know these barriers may cost a few dollars to repair by bending it back BUT management may just replace itfor convenience.

Please do go down to the management and enquire ... after all it is an honest mistake and not as if you have a crush on carpark barriers.

hope this is helpful.
