U shouldn't have admitted your fault. Should hv argued that the security let u pass but as u passed, suddenly the barrier came down on ur car since u mentioned that it was coming down... That way, u can also claim damages.

okies.. for such cases, normally is the replacement of the barrier arm + lifting mechanism.. [:)]

PS: this is from my experience basis on my work nature. this is a POV, NOT a fact..

Do you have any contacts to do the repair otherwise the repair cosy may get out-of-hand?

Before they starts repairing you have to agree to the amount?

Are you saying that Rod was wrong for being honest???? OR if the Management believes the cooked up story its fine that the security guard gets penalised for not doing anything wrong???

the previous time someone broke a barrier arm, it cost around $300 for replacement of arm.. not including labour..

erm.. but that one is plastic de.. not rubber one..

One shd be honest in life. Heard about bad karma?

What if the guards are asked to pay for the damages. Not fair to them, right?

That's true leh... [sweatdrop]

Knowing those big estate management companies, they won't want to pay for it. Ask condo residents to pay, they sure make noise too. Most likely they'll blame the guard and dock his pay. And he only earns a small fraction of what most of the condo residents earn.

As I recall, it's about $700 for the longer length barrier.

If u can get the short one, might b cheaper.

Usually the barrier will bend/break at the point of being secured to the lifting arm. Maybe they can cut off the 1/2 foot section & use back the same piece? Wil save u some $$$.

If u can "slow talk" to the management, u might b able to get a "cheaper option".

Sometimes, they even have a "spare" old barrier in the store which they might "sell" u at a big discount. It's how u talk to them now. [sly]
