Toyota MR2 turbo

I am considering getting that particular MR2 too. At 400plus a month, its really quite tempting lol. I will still be driving my current vehicle, so this MR2 will likely be laid up, thrown into my workshop and stripped down to bare metal for a complete rebuild. Anyone knows if I still have to pay insurance if I lay up a vehicle? Checked on some websites, they only mention road tax is non-payable, but nothing about insurance. But I am thinking since its not going to be driven, insurance should not be needed.

And bro Hotshot85, for old cars, yes maintainence can be a pain sometimes! Like the previous guys mentioned, lots of TLC is needed, and you had best be a hands-on person with some experience working on cars. Simple troubleshooting, maintainence checks, will save you many trips down to the workshop. Things that you have never heard of before can go wrong in an old car!

Just go see the car , get the license plate and you can go online check liao.

For this particular car, there's no need for that.

The photos in the ad show the license plate number. [laugh]

Doesnt say anything about a turbo. Only that it has a T-bar roof. Anyway prepare big bucks to fix up these kinda cars. Most have been trashed within an inch of its life. Expect accident damage as well. This model was famous for spectacular crashes in the past. The handling is great untill the car gives out suddenly. The tipping point is not progressive so not many people knew how to handle the car. For lay up vehicles you will not need insurance as the car cannot be on any public roads or car park. You must prove that you have a private garage and the maximum that you can lay up is 3 years. It will automatically be deregistered after the 3rd year if you do not do anything with it. To reregister, you must pass inspection so make sure you plan well for your rebuild and dont wait untill the last minute then finish the car. This particular car looks horrendous but there arent many left so not much choice plus the price is kinda okay i guess.
