Skoda's growing presence in China

Below are some news of the penetration of the Skoda brand into China, they are made by VW's China factory. So Skoda is becoming stronger in China. Also note that Skoda took over importing rights and duties and takes care of thier 70 over dealerships in China.

 

Skoda Auto is officially presenting the Octavia model designed for the Chinese market at the International Automobile Salon in Peking. In addition to the current range of products, the visitor to the Automobile Salon can also get to know the more than one hundred year history and tradition of the brand.

Diff. mkt potential, bro.

 

Over in China, mkt is huge & imported car brands are seen as much better quality and offer better technology than the local brands. Furthermore. Skoda is riding on the parent's brand to sell.

 

Here ? Their last year's quoted figure is twice the number of Skodas put on the local road.

 

Why would Skoda put any interest in this peanut mkt ? For all you know, they may even be planning at using the China plant to produce car for this region in the future (at least for now its for China's domestic mkt). That would make them price competitive instead of having to ship their cars from EU.

The local market wouldn't be worth peanuts if the current distributor did something about it

 

If Skoda itself took over, they would definitely put more effort into mass marketing the brand

 

Same like VW, they plan to bring the "people's car" to the nation ... which is why they took back the dealership from the same bunch who are screwing our brand of cars up

Anyone notice in Sat's classified that the Skoda advert now reads as Cars & Cars & not Czech Auto anymore?

While having some makan in town in China walked passed a Passat Lingyu, a 'distant' relative to the Skoda Superb. Sorry for the blurry picture, took it from my Palm Treo 750v. Anyways the interior is 100% the same as the Skoda Superb.

 

I see alot of this "new" model on the road in Guangdong province, seems like a hot favourite here.
