Hi, I am a newbie here. so pardon if I get things wrong. I am looking around for a car shampoo. Notice there is one called PolyGlaze. Anyone heard of this before ? I intend to get the Wash and Shine type ( NOT the Wash and Wax ), then follow by another PolyGlaze product call "Diamond Shine" ( Or something like like. Wonder anyone used this before ? And do I need to wax it as I do not know whether this Diamond Shine is a wax thingy or not .... Thanks Dude.

Hi Sorry to hijack this thread a little, due to the requirement of newbie not allowed to setup new thread. I am a new car owner of 2 months, i was thinking about claying and waxing of car, so far i have read about this and guys saying that ideally it should be about 2~3 months per claybar & waxing session. I wonder how possible it would be to do like once every month? And also of cos the impact i would be causing due to doing this every month instead of once every 3 months or more? Cos new car, and still pretty much enjoy the nice feel of the car exterior.

Apologies if i had caused any inconveniences.

Claybar - around 3 months per claybar is ideal or what you feel contaminant(a lump feeling) on the paint surface.

Polish - around 3 months per polish

Wax/Sealant - Everyday also can. Impact will be your car would be protected from bird dropping, tree saps, acid rain for a longer time.

You can attend the MDDS on this sunday and get advices from Maddriver...

aw... too far away for me, new driver, confirm i will lost [sweatdrop] ...

Btw, Polish and Waxing/ Sealant is different? I always presume it's the same thing actually. By Polishing, do you mean the machine type which shops do for you? Hmmm, as a newbie, i also thought that to wax/sealant, i confirm must clay bar, at least now i know this is a myth... [laugh]

Polish is more like "remove".. For some type of polishes(see instruction), need to use the machine. I use the autoglym super resin polish(SRP) and polish by hand.

Waxing/sealing is "adding".. For sealant is adding a type of synthetic polymer on the paint surface whereas waxing is adding wax over the paint surface or over a sealant surface to make the car shiny. Sealant must be done before waxing because once wax is applied, any sealant will "slip" off. Normally I would apply 4-5 layer of sealant(one layer per week) then apply 2-3 layer of wax over it. Sealant is more for protection of paintwork and last longer than wax which is more for shine and maintaining the sealant protection.

For Claybaring, as long as the surface feel smooth, claybar is not required since some claybars are abrasive(by Maddriver). Therefore not advisable to claybar too often. Anyway claybar is hard work.wink.gif

[sweatdrop] technically speaking, assuming that the wax is suppose to clean off any sealant, it doesn't quite matter how many coats of sealant is applied, we can apply like 10 coats or more, but with the wax properties, it is still suppose to get rid of the sealant. Isn't it? [hur] properties on the wax may work like properties of a detergent, which still does it's job, erm applying more layer does not necessary means it's good? [sweatdrop]

Wax does not get rid of the sealant. It is like forming a layer over the sealant. Wax is more natural while sealant is synthetic. This will make the sealant last longer. Sealant is more on durability on protecting the paintwork while wax is more on shine. Wax do protect the paintwork but for a shorter time. However, once apply wax, dun apply sealant cause the properties of wax will repel the sealant. Dun ask me why like that. I also dunnosweatdrop.gif

Polish is an abrasive thingy. Unless you got marks like scratch, etc, not advisable to use often cause it may not only strip off the sealant and wax, also not good for your paintwork.

Imagine polish as soap for cleaning your body, and sealant/wax as sun lotion to protect from UV from sunlight...laugh.gif After 2-3 hour, sun lotion may not be effective and you apply another layer...around same same as sealant/wax...

LSP will need clean off sealant. As we all know sealant will bond into paint but not for LSP and that is why we usually wait for a day or 2 before applying wax.For the sealant to bond.It depends on individual. Some of us will stop at sealant and some will apply wax over it.The reason we apply LSP,to have the kinda of wax feeling and of cos the beading from wax.

An example is #476 and #845,even you wash it with shampoo many times ,u just can't get rid of the wax.Is just a super tough wax.Carnauba does not last in our weather but of cos the shine and gloss is there.

[dizzy] Hi Bro, sorry as a bit newbie, but what is LSP? Cos I am a new 1st time car owner, so i am pretty much super concern about my new car condition and how to sustain it etc. I just did a sealant package which lasts about 2 weeks or so, and the slippery feeling worns off due to the rain and sun shine. ideally i would love it to be slippery and looks good, cos it is sort of my pride for now. [sly]

Of cos i have also been looking at the resources of trying to do this myself, when sweat comes along of cos feel more achievement... [laugh] But there's just so much products listed here, guess i would take a week to read like 50% of it. [sweatdrop]

I believe MadDriver supplies items, Bro, is there any link on ur list of products so that we can help to facilitate newbies like me, and of cos includes tips and tricks as well? [thumbsup]
