what do you mean auto engine shut off ?

do you mean that you saw the driver shut off the ignition, remove the car keys but the engine still runs for a certain period before it shuts off ?

If so, its a delay to let the turbo spin down because shutting off engine will cut off coolant circulation. Bad for turbos ..... tongue.gif

Any car can do that, juz install a turbo timer. You set a countdown time, take out your keys, activate your alarm and walk away. The engine will continue to run for the time that you set and after that it will shut off by itself.

Hell, I even installed one for my Hilux. Any car can install it but frankly, it's a waste of money for those without turbo.

Walk off when engine is still running.

Am wondering, how u pump petrol? must wait for the timer to stop before u pump? or is there a button to stop it straigt away?

All turbo car comes with turbo timer, of which after the driver had switched off, the timer will run for a couple of mins before shuting off. quite normal, thing is for the engine to run down before totally shut off.

Do not believe it standard fitting.

Most Evo's, STI's etc that have them are all aftermarket fitting....Apexi usually around sS100 - 130 bucks inc fitting.

I believ the reason why they are used is to give a chance for the turbo to cool down thus prolonging the life of it, especially after hard driving.

On my car..if the handbrake is released the Turbo timer does not activate (useful when i fill up with fuel).

Waste of time unless you own a turbo car.

For some reason, when I installed the APEXI, the mechanic say I have to rev the car a little to push up the RPM before switching off the engine, otherwise the turbotimer will not keep the engine running.

Something about my car's idling RPM being too low.

Any ideas?

Is it the turbo timer?? Actually it'll help to further cool the TC and engine at idling rpm. U set the timer to delay the shut down.

If your car is N.A., it is a waste of $$ and fuel. [:p]
