Passion 5th Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Anyone can enlighten on this technology?I saw a Evo and lancer ralliart turbo having such technology? Is it OEM or can be installed somewhere? ↡ Advertisement
Try_conti 2nd Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 what do you mean auto engine shut off ? do you mean that you saw the driver shut off the ignition, remove the car keys but the engine still runs for a certain period before it shuts off ? If so, its a delay to let the turbo spin down because shutting off engine will cut off coolant circulation. Bad for turbos .....

Boyboy 1st Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 running. when the preset time is up, the engine will shut down
Fcw75 Hypersonic March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Any car can do that, juz install a turbo timer. You set a countdown time, take out your keys, activate your alarm and walk away. The engine will continue to run for the time that you set and after that it will shut off by itself. Hell, I even installed one for my Hilux. Any car can install it but frankly, it's a waste of money for those without turbo.

Am wondering, how u pump petrol? must wait for the timer to stop before u pump? or is there a button to stop it straigt away?
Wish1719 1st Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Anyone can enlighten on this technology?I saw a Evo and lancer ralliart turbo having such technology? Is it OEM or can be installed somewhere? All turbo car comes with turbo timer, of which after the driver had switched off, the timer will run for a couple of mins before shuting off. quite normal, thing is for the engine to run down before totally shut off. Turbine Neutral Newbie March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 (edited) [reply] Am wondering, how u pump petrol? must wait for the timer to stop before u pump? or is there a button to stop it straigt away? they just pump the petrol w/o waiting but you can deactivate the turbo timer. Jho0001 Neutral Newbie March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Do not believe it standard fitting. Most Evo's, STI's etc that have them are all aftermarket fitting....Apexi usually around sS100 - 130 bucks inc fitting. I believ the reason why they are used is to give a chance for the turbo to cool down thus prolonging the life of it, especially after hard driving. On my car..if the handbrake is released the Turbo timer does not activate (useful when i fill up with fuel). Waste of time unless you own a turbo car. Refeer Neutral Newbie March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 For some reason, when I installed the APEXI, the mechanic say I have to rev the car a little to push up the RPM before switching off the engine, otherwise the turbotimer will not keep the engine running. Something about my car's idling RPM being too low. Any ideas?
Watwheels Supersonic March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Anyone can enlighten on this technology?I saw a Evo and lancer ralliart turbo having such technology? Is it OEM or can be installed somewhere? Is it the turbo timer?? Actually it'll help to further cool the TC and engine at idling rpm. U set the timer to delay the shut down. If your car is N.A., it is a waste of $$ and fuel. Watwheels Supersonic March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 Your mechanic scared not enough fuel to keep the engne idling. By doing this is to prevent the engine from stalling prematurely.
