RadX Moderator March 14, 2007 Author Share March 14, 2007 (edited) and remember the Singtel lady, who got 504 RAM instead of 512Mb RAM.... that also write in comprain....I bet the singtel staff laffing themselves away..dumb lady never heard that some RAM used for other apps and wun be registered still laugh so much, think you score own goal too.. a notebook with 512MB can appear as 504MB in the OS is because some graphic processor does not have its own dedicated memory, so it got to share with the main memory. In this case, 8MB is reserved so the OS will show only 504MB in the system properties. Even if the app used half of the memory, it will still show 504MB lah that is EXACTLY what I meantDUH!!! making me wonder........how come retards are replying to me Edited March 14, 2007 by RadX ↡ Advertisement

Jango 2nd Gear March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 (edited) Whether its red or white lot, if there is writing "7pm - 7am" then I would intepret it as they are okay to be used for hourly parking at any day as long as I'm outside of the stipulated period. Thats how I intepret it and so far I haven't got any summons (maybe just lucky). It is quite obvious that the English used is very ambiguous since so many people have different intepretation. I think the lady has a strong case. HDB needs to rectify the situation. I don't quite get it why some find it funny when some pple are ignorant or challenge the system. Whether its car park signs or computer RAM, things you know and take for granted others might not know. Any doubts should be clarified, nothing wrong or funny about. Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 I always thought if it is red lots, without words, then it is season parking whole day 24x7, including sunday and public holidays, even if the carpark has "Free Parking on Sundays and Public Holidays". If red lot but with words like 7pm-7am, it means at other times, coupon parking is ok. Otherwise, put the timing for what ? One good example is the parking lot at clementi central, behind the McDonalds. The middle part is red lots, but day time can use coupon. I haven't seen white lots but for season at night though.... Icekitten Clutched March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 '...have remembered the 'sign' wrongly....' too dark for her to see Hey...just now took a glance at the wordings when I came home. They are definitely written "Reserved for season parking from 7pm-7am" with "including Sundays and Public Holidays" in brackets. Btw, all these lots are red lots. So this means that red or white doesn't make any difference at all. Whatever is written on the sign/notice/ground applies. I believe she just vaguely remembered the 'notice' and wrote in to complain. So while she was right to complain, she failed to express herself in proper English.
RadX Moderator March 14, 2007 Author Share March 14, 2007 (edited) TKs sis......I believe I have ALSO seen some 'white lots' in certain CPs but signage is as what you have said...and thus, 'SEASON PARKING' at all times Edited March 14, 2007 by RadX

Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 Take one photo of the words painted in the car park and post it in Stomp. Let the company (one that issue summon) to explain why the summon action taken. Maybe HDB would like to explain also. I believe HDB had sub-let to contractor to do the paint job and in turn, the contractor let his bangala workers do the writing. So a word missing would change the whole meaning of the sentence. I did saw some bangala workers painting those words at my house car park during my off day.
Ecaf Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 (edited) there's nothing wrong to clarify about one's doubts. that's what i mean. but it gets silly when a person loses temper over something that he isn't sure of. Apollo 1st Gear March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 i think she is collect lah... becos for reserve parking fr 7pm - 7am, HDB has a special sign added apart fr the standard one. HDB got many variation of parking a) season parking whole day (no floor marking) b) season parking 7pm - 7am (this one sometime also got floor marking) c) season parking from 5pm d) season parking, loading and unloading only

Icekitten Clutched March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 Just to add on something extra... I always thought that red lots are reserved TOTALLY for season parking ticket holders, so I always parked at the 3rd floor. Until one day as I was walking past the red lots and noticed there was some writing there. I read the words and realised that I can park at those lots from 7am-7pm. I read and re-read it to make sure and even called my hubby to look. He too, had not noticed the words earlier and thought that the lots were reserved 24 hrs. Since then til we got our season parking ticket, we've parked in the red lots during the allocated time and have never gotten any summon for that. I wonder is it really possible that HDB has lots marked with 2 statements so similar yet holding totally different meanings? Or was it a grammar error by the person in charge of the carpark project at the time, or error by the contractor and workers?

Eskimosqito Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 First of all, I dont think she ACT BLUR, however acting or not we won't know unless otherwise proven. It might be a strong case otherwise she won't be writing in. Cannot be that her engrish not powderful that she misunderstood and interpreted wrongly. Apparently she went back to check and wrote in "[blue]I am shocked for a sign on this lots states: 'Reserved for season parking including Sundays and public holidays from 7pm to 7am.[/color]' " I am thinking there might be a comma after Reserved for season parking, or 'Reserved for season parking including Sundays and public holidays, and the perfectionisht bangla cover it with paint thinking it is some blemish... One small comma makes 2 scenarios. ↡ Advertisement
