Caught for Black Smoke Emission

I received a letter today that my co. van was caught emitting black smoke.

I called the hotline but could not get through.

Must I bring the original log card when I send it for inspection? As the van is on loan, the bank holds the orig copy of the log card.

What tests will the van be subjected to?

Suggest you send your van to ws where they make sure your van is inspection ready, at the same time they can advice you on what to expect during inspection. Happened to me before.

You just need to bring along the photocopied log card for the inspection and I suspect it's your exhaust system faulty maybe some clog in the cat converter, that's why emit black smoke... Most probably your van will undergo the CO emission test, which is part of the inspection. The penalty though I'm not so sure...
