Saabretooth 2nd Gear March 26, 2007 Share March 26, 2007 What is your tire size? and your budget? I am thinking of going to try out the S1Evo though. Its comparative to the Advan Sport. Also, Robert, if you are reading, what would be a competitive tire to the RE01R?
Kelpie 2nd Gear March 26, 2007 Share March 26, 2007 I was looking at S1Evo before changing to K105 Prime. They didn't have the size for my car so dropped the idea. Regards,
Robertoon Neutral Newbie March 26, 2007 Share March 26, 2007 Let mr check out RE010R performance review and let you know...But i guess S1evo is the answer at these moment...
Kelpie 2nd Gear March 26, 2007 Share March 26, 2007 I see, I looking for UHT with stiff side wall lah Hankook would have something for you. Write to Robert as he is a Hankook guru. Regards,
Vtim 3rd Gear March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 now I looking to down grade to 16" Enkei or 5Zigen (2nd hand) because the 17" Santa Fe rims are damn heavy so, once down to 16", may change the tyres because I don't know what used tyres and profile they come with, I need 225/55/16 (preferred) or 215/60/16. Chevycavy 1st Gear March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 I'm using RE01R at the moment and it's fantastic on road and track. Can't make any comparisons though as my previous tire was the crappy ST115. Worlds apart... Only cons for me at the moment are price and treadwear of 140. So if I can find a similar performance tire with a higher treadwear and lower price that'll be great. Have also shortlisted RS2 and 595RS as possible backups for my RE01R but unsure of their quality.
Kelpie 2nd Gear March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 Hankook is a world class manufacturer of Tires. Some said its a spin-off venture with Michelin and it owns share in Hankook. Hankook tires have already been used in world racing rallies so quality has to be there. Regards,
Chevycavy 1st Gear March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 Sorry I've used the wrong word...I meant to say performance. I meant to say that I'm not sure how RS2 or Federal's 595RS will hold up when compared with RE01R.
Saabretooth 2nd Gear March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 I doubt the RS2s are going to be as good as the RE01Rs in terms of tracking. But for the money, its going to pleasantly surprise you. I find it to be a value for money tire, but not in the same league. I think that there is another one that they have which is much closer to the RE01Rs. Maybe its the Ventus Z211? Haven't tried or spoken to people who have tried the 595RS version, but I've heard good reviews about them from 3rd party references. They could be in your league of cheap and good tires. Robertoon Neutral Newbie March 27, 2007 Share March 27, 2007 Bro, Z211 obsolete liao will be replaced by Z214.... Z211 did very well in Sepang and i am sure Z214 even better looking at the profile of the tyre....still waiting for the tyre to arrive and test it out before marketing... Cool_jazz Neutral Newbie March 29, 2007 Share March 29, 2007 how does the RS2 behave in the wet ? does it still grip well when wet while doing 140km+ on NS H/W ? does it have stiff side wall and lastly, what's the thread wear like ? The RS2 reminds me of AD07. Looks like the same thread pattern..... so might be noisy. But I heard that the S03 is even noisier than the AD07
Vtim 3rd Gear March 29, 2007 Share March 29, 2007 I'm not too worry about the noise, more important in the handling and steering feel ↡ Advertisement
