Hi,

Has anyone tried T1R or RS2 before? Care to share your thoughts? Do you know how they compare with AD 07, GSD3 or Sports Maxx?

Thanks.

Be prepared for fireworks... [laugh]

IMO, AD07 is very good when dry, but not for wet.

As for the rest, they're all good both wet and dry. Go with what you like.

T1R

RS2

Sports Maxx

you might want to take R1R to compare with RS2 and AD07.

GSD3 and Sport Maxx is more aligned with T1R.

Hope my mind is not failing me when i match them.

BTW, you might want to tell us which profile and car your selected rubber will be put on.

Certain tyres perform differently in different profile and size.

Im on T1-R too. running bout 5,000km to date. Very gd both dry and especially wet. Wear out rate is faster then normal but due to the softer compound i say its a give and take. Price is reasonable too. I say a really gd tyre to use and you'll feel safe using it too. 3 thumbs up!

Popcorns... more aligned to watching a show [nod]

For street driving, I think really there's not much difference.

Same as:

Pilot Preceda 2 vs PremiunmContact 2

Pilot Sport 2 vs CSC 2

And more often than not, it's a compromise bet wet/dry performance with noise and wear thrown in. There is no "best tyre".

When you said T1R is good.. based on what when you compare?

It would be helpful the TS when you stated the size and price as well.

Erm, why am I guiding this thread.. where is the TS?

i'm off to buy my bun now.. [wave]

performance,

wear rate,

price,

noise,

brand name or

some people in forum said so...

Very subjective...

do i need to compare with other tyres? there are a thousand and one tyres to compare with, tyres are personal choice if you ask me. U want comfort or performance? I don;'t like to compare too many tyres. I was told it was gd by a fren so i tried and its really gd in terms of performance. I've used G3 before so that is my only comparison but not a fair one to others as i've not tried others as yet. I was happy with G3 previously but price got a little steep, I'm on 195/50/15 got them for $90 each. There are so people who swear by some tyres like SO2 for example. Everyone who used them swear by them, and ya i think maybe the T1-R is not up to S02 standard but if you ask dollar to dollar then i would say its really worth it and you know you can always count on it not giving up on you.

First off, thanks for all the comments. I definitely didn't expect so much advise in such a short time. Anyway, the tire profile that I am looking at is 215/45/17.

The main reason I put these tires together is because they are about the same price range and similar performance.

Maybe I should start a poll....

hi,

tried AD07, GSD3 and T1R.

rating between the 3 tire from lowest * to higest *****:

profile 195/50R15

AD07

dry grip *****

wet grip ****

aquaplan **

price ***

noise ***

mileage ****

GSD3

dry grip **

wet grip *****

aquaplan ****

price ****

noise ****

mileage *****

T1R

dry grip ***

wet grip **

aquaplan ***

price **

noise ****

mileage ***

personal comment:

AD07

pro: dry grip, wet grip, very good mileage for the price and grip, very value for money.

con: soft sidewall, poor steering response, snappy characteristic, cannot hit even the slightest puddle of water.

GSD3

pro: superb wet grip, very good mileage for the cheapo price, value for money only in the wet.

con: soft sidewall, poor steering response, super weak dry grip.

T1R

pro: most comfort & quiet among the three, good steering response, moderate dry grip for the high price.

con: super lousy wet grip, cant put the power on the road on 2nd gear if it is wet, not value for money for the grip or mileage.

i hope my personal experience helps your choice.

Stare,

Great that you have tried AD 07, GSD3 and T1R. Would you buy any of them again? Judging from the number of * that you gave, GSD3 has the most *.

I would say the T1R has much better wet than AD07, but not as much grip when dry. AD07 was way prone to aquaplaning. I will never recommend wet for AD07 over T1R, or any of the other tyres listed thus far for that matter.

See, Viv7? This is exactly what we meant. Even side by side, these tyres will elicit different responses from different people, with some of the opinion that AD07 has better wet performance than T1R! Not that he's wrong and I'm right. It's down to personal experience.

I'll just say you can't go wrong with T1R, Sports Max, GSD3, RS2, PS2, CSC2 etc.
