This is my favourite part of reviewing a car, and the Punto GT is hardly a disappointment. As previously mentioned, the car is 1.4, 8 valve, turbocharged and intercooled, producing nearly 140bhp at the flywheel. This results in the car having a 0-60 sprint of 7.6 seconds, and a top speed of 126mph

in April 07 Wheels Australia magazine, there is an article mentioning that there will be 3 versions of the GP Abarth. 150bhp, 180bhp and 200bhp. The latter with twin turbo, 7-speed sequential manual gearbox and AWD.

The Scorpion is back

Since ever the Italian racing car maker produces successful and aggressive vehicles. Now it is back with a new range of elaborations, wose aim is that of giving strong sports feelings by driving a Fiat car to everyone who love sportscars.

Abarth stand in 2007 Geneva motor Show will be a big attraction for all visitors: it will rich of precious materials and finishes like aluminium, carbon fiber, enamel and varnish, which will be properly useful to create a proper environment to the two big protagonists of the stand: the racing car Fiat Grande Punto Abarth S2000, and the concept car Grande Punto Abarth Preview.

Coming soon

Fiat Grande Punto Abarth shows to be aggressive and dynamic, suitable for younger customers. A low structure, dark windows, white colour with nice serigraphy all over the bodywork, two-coloured racing alloys, red mirrors and rear spoiler: as a result, this car looks preatty sports and fascinating.

150 hosepower

Let's talk about the powertrain now: Fiat Grande Punto Abarth will be equipped with a 1.4 fuel engine, which ofeers an horsepower output of 150 hp, available at 5500 RPM (which become 155 hp with 98 RON fuel). This engine will be for sure appreciated from dealers, giving them very strong feelings and a high driving pleasure.

Another interesting elemnt is the new enhancement kit which will be introduced by Abarth later: thanks to it, the engine will reach even 180 hp!

The launch

The clue idea is that of giving to young drivers the access of sportscar world, with a car which shows high sports performances outstanding sport appeal, quality and safety, but still affordable.

Its debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show will be followed by the official launch, which is going to be in less than one month...stay tuned with Infomotori.co.uk to be updated about all exciting news from Fiat!

The Grand Punto Abarth Preview is a snapshot of the production car that goes on sale in Europe in September. The Grand Punto competes directly with BMW's Mini. Power comes from a 155-hp, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder, but buyers will be able to purchase a booster kit pushing output to 180 hp.
