I started a post trying to get real evidence/ first hand experience with skidding on aspec DBs here:

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Aftermarke...y;so=ASC;mh=-1;

Lots of responses, some real experiences but IMHO, not too many to confirm that Aspec DBs are dangerours in the wet.

So I thought it would be interesting to widen the question to what other tyres have you skidded on to get a better read. I'll start:

Tyre: Continental Sports Contact II

Road: HDB Multi-storey carpark - concrete

Situation: Everytime without fail when its wet, ABS kicks in even at 20-30kmh speeds.

What car are you driving?

I used michellin's pilot preceda, and its bad too.

The rears skidded just after rain in a turn, and the front abs comes in quite often too

Many years back, I had a scary experience on one of my cars that had Yokohama tyres. I could recall that I used the tyres for only 5000km. I was driving on the centre lane of a 3 lanes road and when I saw the traffic lights changed from amber to red, I slammed on the brake.

The car was skidding away and I was struggling to control the car. Maybe there a puddle of oil on the lane. The next moment, I found myself on the other side of the road. Luckily, there was no vehicle on my right and on the road that are at 90 degree to my lane.

Though the tyre threads were still new, immediately, I drove to the nearest tyre shop and replaced them with another brand.

After that bad incident until now, I still have this phoebia whenever any tyre shop recommended me Yokohama tyres despite tremendous improvements on this tyre now.

Falken 326.

Had to slam on the brakes in an emergency when travelling at about 75km/h on slightly damp expressway (after light rain), car skidded two full car lengths. Would have skidded further, if not for the fact that the Cefiro in front "stopped" me.

On the same tires, exited at Bukit Timah from off the CTE (exit that comes out next to KK hospital), travelling about 40km/h+ in the rain. Tapped the brake to slow down, car lost traction and skidded about 10 meters, nearly rear-ended the car in front.

Was driving a Hyundai Accent LC2 (1.3 litre Manual) at the time.

Tyre: Yokohama aspec A300 (cheaper version of aspec dB)

Road: Normal dry road tarmac

Situation: Hard braking at 40-50kph, tyres slip, ABS activated.

Falken 326 on Nissan Sunny. Do not hav any horror story yet. Drive through water puddle @ 110km/h without any problem (except horrible steering feedback). Able to control stopping distance via brake force.

Falken 326, skidded in car park, skidded on white paint markings, skidded on water ponding on expressways. Slow carpark speed also skid, driving 90kmh also skid. Traffic light move off, wheel spin.

best part, tyres used for less than 5000km. I thought it was due to the new tyres layer of initial wax. Season a bit should be fine. It become worse.

Changed the tires immediately.

Please don't get this tyre. Noisy and no grip. Useless!

Nexen N2000, not exactly jamming brakes but rather a firm push on the pedal enough to send my then E30 skidding, really not recommended for wet driving shakehead.gif

Pilot Preceda's are bad?? I emailed Michelin to for recommendations and they suggested the New Pilot Precedas to me...

I was seriously considering the New Piolet Precedas but after reading what you posted...
