Alfpoon Clutched March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 (edited) Any of our members here using that carpark? The police cannot catch the culprit for the past 5 years? Windscreens smashed by falling ice cubes in Bishan carpark By Hoe Yeen Nie, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 05 March 2007 2304 hrs SINGAPORE: Up to 20 cars parked between block 145 and 148, Bishan St 11, are believed to have been damaged by ice cubes hurled from an HDB flat. Residents say the incidents usually occur on Saturdays in the early hours of the morning, resulting in car parks often left empty to avoid car windscreens being shattered. Residents have had to endure falling ice cubes for the past five years. Police are still investigating the case. - CNA/yy http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../262175/1/.html Edited March 6, 2007 by Alfpoon ↡ Advertisement

Dipstick Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 They should not have reported this in the media....... now the culprit will lie low. Should have caught him first then publicize the incident. Anyway, I hope the nut gets caught soon.

Crummytyre Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 Should catch 1st, then build shelter and charge the cost to the culprit.
Cbx750p 1st Gear March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 I think the ice cubes must have been shot from a catapult ! A reasonably sized cube from the fridge plus a sling shot would make a nasty damage like that ! Throwing a cube from a height like that should not be very accurate. The culprit must have something about cars parked there. At least when the screens are damaged, the drive can claim insurance. Imagine if he had scratched the cars....no claims allowed. Zakuii 1st Gear March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 The problem is, if the residents have already tipped off the police, why are the police not doing anything like installing stealth cameras to catch the culprit? it is not once this happens right? Chimp Clutched March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 (edited) This culprit should not be too hard to find. Since the car park around the block is now almost empty, If I were the police, I will start investigating the owners of the cars that are still parked in that car park frequently. The ones that parked there now are either ignorant or they are sure their car is not going to get hit. Edited March 6, 2007 by Chimp
Lbc13 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 I second for the idea for covered carpark. Even if there's no ice cubes there's still falling branches, bird sxxt caterpilla sxxt and whatever nots.... COVERED CARPARKS!
Thor991 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 Hi This is my first time posting. Just to keep everyone updated, my sis bf happen to stay around the carpark vicinity. His car windscreen was also hit by the same culprit sometime last year. The police was called in but the they nonchalantly brush it off as just another vandalism case even though the aunties living in that block has seen it very frequently. So he went to see the MP for Bishan (someone quite high up)to get something done. Guess what, the police informed him that they will install a surveillance camera to catch the culprit after his complaint to the MP. After watching the news on TV, I am amazed that such things still happen. It seems that either the culprit is very elusive or our police is simply bo chap. Nutty 4th Gear March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 Could have been ice blocks made from those one-litre Magnolia ice-cream containers.

Liping24 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 Well...there was a report a person reported that he saw a sexy naked next block neighbour standing near the window at morning 6am daily. True enough the police set up video cam and stake out the place at the wee hours to catch the naked neighbour. So you see.....this car window cracked by person throwing things down simple cuts no ice(pun intended) with the police. Someone must report to the police in such a way that they suspect maybe a sexy naked girl is throwing out the ice cubes innocently after she has had kinky activities with the ice cubes in her bedroom........I am sure this will get the gee-hong mata into stake out action!!! Nutty 4th Gear March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 Just curious... How do they know it's falling ice-cubes? Should have melted by the time they realized their windscreen are smashed.

Thor991 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2007 Share March 6, 2007 There were plastic bags on the ground. Some of the aunties living there has also seen the ice pack before it melted.
