My friend told me that a new civil will be in the market soon. how true?

Is your friend referring to the UK and JDM CTRs?

try bringing the Civic and GTC round a bend/corner at a 3digit speed and you will get what Elf is trying to say.

BTW, is your cousin's astra new with the 15inch stock rim?

Oic...

yes, still on those 'puny' 15"

yeah. i know what you mean... roadholding for most contis are quite good albeit their heavy bodies... But not as direct as the civic i feel. Btw, a perked up civic will do equally well, or maybe even better. agree? [:)]

Built quality better no doubt. But in terms of aftermarket parts; choices, availabilty and price, still can't match the japanese cars.

If wana compare among contis only, i'll still prefer the Focus.

Well i guess you cant go wrong with either. Which do u think looks better???

If you're worried abt the astra, my mom drove the corsa for 5yrs. The only big problem was the actuator for the 1st gen MTA which when changed under warranty to a later version, lasted 4yrs.

Smaller problems was that it didn't like shell (i.e. extra high sulphur fuels) and one of the connectors for the ac fan came loose, but i won't be surprised if the cause of the latter was my sister and her itchy foot. But that was about it.

Good looking, auto, reliable, decent cruising (i'm assuming NS highway). If you don't mind (i'm a lil biased on this) have a look at the 3 door Fiat Grande Punto with the skyroof. Its abt $15k lower than your budget.

Oh this is my opinion, but i would suggest that you get something a lil more exotic before you have any kids coz after that, you're gonna need practicality more.

Shell is her chosen fuel lol

Will be going to Fiat the next time she's free for a look see for sure. I'm just not very happy with settling for the 8 valve engine rather than the 16 valve (and more powerful) version in the idea, when both are available to the punto overseas

OIC. Still haven't seen a Nissan. Unfortunately, Nissan cars prices gallop gallop away... At what time, the 2 litre Sylphy is cheaper than a 1.6l Civic. Now, tell that to your mum and see what she thinks. [;)]

MTA is a clutchess car.

But its not like Tiptronic where you call it a semi auto

MTA is a semi manual, so you gotta release the accelerator slightly before shifting gears. None of the hassle of needing to step on the clutch. Addictive still. =)

But yeah, an pure Auto would be alot more convenient.

Release the accelerator???? What weed are u smoking??? [laugh][laugh]

Shell sucks. I never use it unless for lack of any other petrol kiosk ard. I even managed to get my mom to stop using shell.

Its just a matter of time before the 16v will be coming in as the 8 valve is gone/going from the production line.

Not necessarily. depends on what perking up brands and setup. Also depends on how much each party is willing to spend. If $$$ was no objection, i could get Quantam's for the GTC which is better than any suspension available for the civic.

Parts wise, there are heaps available for the focus, astra, megane etc, just that they arent easily availible in sg.

Actually since u brought up the focus... its the perfect example of how conti's are better in the handling department. Take the XR5 focus vs the MPS3... essentially the same cars, but courtesy of ford's suspension setup the XR5 is better in the handling stakes.

Never tried a MTA before, but from what I read in the magazines, it is one of the ways to make a MTA ride less jerky.

Is it that bad? What makes it so bad? How is it bad? Been using shell since day 1 for current ride. Still working well I would say..

In the article Shell claims to be able to meet UK Gahment demands wor.. they export their higher sulphur petrol overseas?

Besides that article is for UK, relevant to SG?

Might be a bit dense here, so please bear with me [lipsrsealed]

That article was to highlight the cons of high sulfur fuels. The shell fuels we get are refined in sg and exported throughout the region.

The aussie fuels are identical to sg fuels and tests have shown that shell has a high sulfur content than its competitors.
