Yes, of course.

 

It is the first hatchback 1.6 saloon from Kia, its sedan version is called the Kia Sephia.

 

1st Generation : Kia Sephia (Sedan) & Kia Mentor (Hatchback)

 

2nd Generation : Kia Spectra

 

3rd Generation : Kia Cerato available in 1.6 DOHC & 2.0 CVVT

 

4th Generation : Kia Cerato available in 1.6 CVVT & 2.0 CVVT (Available now)

yup.. my first car was the sedan equivalent.. the sephia

The Sephia uses a Mazda 323 engine - cost S$85K brand new back in 1999 when it was launched.

 

Cheaper than Corollas which cost $120K back then.

My KIA Spectra cost $63k @ 11/03, sigh cerato onli $40k+ nowadays...

So when you bought your Kia Spectra, you must have though it was cheap and you got a good deal.

 

Same for my friend who bought a Kia Cerato at $63.8K in Sept 2004, and thought he got a good deal too.

 

Now it costs only $40K+.

 

If he sells now, he loses $30K in 2.5 years, or $12K p.a.

Hi KEEN, if I am mistaken, the picture of the Mentor shown in Alvito's posting was not the latest model. I remembered that the rear lightings are more clear cut.

you can still buy this car brand new in Malaysia (facelifted but overall shape still the same). It's known as a NAZA-Kia Spectra (assembled by NAZA in Malaysia)

Yup, driven one for 3 years. Bought my Mentor at then AutoAsia at Lor 8 Toa Payoh. The Mentor mentioned is 1.5 Hatchback with 2 pairs of headlights. It was nickname mini Mer E200 which also have 2 pairs of headlights.

 

I like the space inside but a bit of high in FC (9.5km/l). Bought for $60,388 at the high COE of $32,501. When booking for the Mentor, is was advertised for $50,888 but unable to secure the COE as it keep rising. So had to top-up $5,000/- to secure a veh.

 

But anyway, I should like to thanks the said vehicle as I scrap it in 2003 and received a high scrap value (due to high COE) to exchange for Corolla 1.5 XLI in 2003. Seen a lot of such model in MY during that time which they call Serpia & comes a wiper at the rear windscreen. S'pore model does not have the rear wiper.

the malaysia spec Spectra comes with 4w disc brake, ABS, airbag, rear viper, 16" sport rim.. mine have none of the abovemention..
