Cause of loud howling sound when car in motion?

I am driving a 4yr old Jazz. Last month, I replaced 2 worn Aspec DB tyres with Hankook tyres. Also got the wheels aligned. But after the visit to the tyre shop, there is now a loud howling sound, similar to road noise whenever the car is in motion. Even friends who sat in the car consider the sound unusually loud.

Can anyone advise what could be the cause?

got the Centum K702, 175/65R14.

the Toh Guan East shop tell me that my car original stock 14 inch steel rim, so only got this model for 14 inch.

From the moment I drove off, I noticed the sound, but I thot is haven't run in yet, but now is more than 1 month since.

Worn bearings, I encountered before, it's the same sound, but this time, when drive faster, the sound does not get louder. I am beginning to think is the mismatched tyres, but .. this is not a common feedback in the forums.

Sigh.. [:(]

Anyway to reduce sound? pump more air? Pump less air?

The sound really getting on my nerves.. from this forum.. read that Hankook was a decent brand. But honestly.. I am beginning to feel that sound factor is really a big criteria.

Pump more air can reduce noise a bit only. Be careful when driving in the wet, grip is not so good. The only cure is change the tyre becos the noise will always be there. I had this experience many years ago(10 yrs) no choice have to get rid of the korean tyres.

Compare to jap tyres only abt $20-30 cheaper but not worth it.

If it happened immediately after u changed the tyres & did the alignment then it can only b: Your tyres r noisy type. Tyre pressure is too high or too low. Alignment was not done properly.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

The tyre was manufactured in 2006, so, age shd not be an issue.

Now.. if u were in my shoes, what would be the next course action, given so many unknown variables?

Send for realignment?

Swap new tyre with emergency spare to confirm if new tyre is the cause?

Go change all wheel bearings?

Change the rear 2 old tyres?

All troubleshooting options seem to cost a lot of $$.

Maybe u sud go back to the shop who sold u the tyres & say that compared to your fren who drives the same car & same tyres, yours is so much more noisy. Ask them if maybe the alignment was not done properly. It has been known to happen when done by inexperienced workers.

B4 that re-check your tyre pressure if it's not too high. Some tyre shops like to pump it higher then normal.
