Hi Volk74,

There are some threads on window films/solar film/heat control films/window tinting so you may want to take a look at them first to give you a better idea. or you can do a search using the above key words.

Huper Optik or V-Kool ?

Solar Film

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...st_reply;so=ASC

Solar Film Scratched

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...w%20film;#40016

In any case, in order to comply to LTA regulations, no matter what kind of window tinting you do on your car, the allowable VLT [Visible Light Transmission] should be 70% for the front 3 windows/windscreen and 50% for the rear 3 windows/rear windscreen.

Products like V-Kool [metallic oxide based] and Huper Optic [ceramic based] sell themselves as heat reflective films and the other chemical based films as heat absorption films. General warranty varies between products, from 5-7 years.

You will need to cut holes for the ERP unit when using V-Kool or Huper Optik. Also depending on the curvature of the windscreen, some films might need to be attached on in 2 pieces instead of one whole piece.

I'm using Ray Barrier now ...usual price was S$688 but got it at S$638 during a promo. So far so good...all within LTA regulations. Cant comment on Spectrum as I've never used it. V-Kool/Huper Optic prices for a medium sized car varies from ~S$800+ to ~S$1000+.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Volk74,

Not sure for these two but I've check with v-kool. Octy need to use the Optimax series instead of UV70/75 series as Octy windscreen already alightly tinted.

The price is $950 and now got 30% discount.

Thanks for your info. Next time will do a search 1st before posting. Sorry.

So Ray Barrier no need to cut a hole for the ERP unit?

DO they use one full piece for the front and back windscreen?

Hi Caaa

Understands that this films can only nominally help to reduce the heat...and make the a/c more efficient.

dun think can do wonders...unless it is totally opaque...laugh.gif

You're right. It only reduce radiation from contact you directly but the heat still can penetrates thru' the metal porton such as roof.

No worries. wink.gif

Yep, there is no need to cut a hole for the ERP unit for Ray Barrier. They all use full one piece films for the windscreens. nod.gif

Its only V-Kool or Huper Optic that might need to cut into half depending on the curvature of the windscreen. tongue.gif

Try to go on a sunny day...coz after installing the window film...its best that you sun the car and let the small air bubbles under the film evaporate and stick properly on the glass panels.

Make sure that they clean your windscreens first before installation though. Especially the places where you have car decals...coz might have some smudges. sweatdrop.gif

Had experience with both V-Kool and Ray Barrier - personally found V-Kool more effective, may even be well worth the additional cost. [thumbsup]
