Mercury1 Turbocharged June 1, 2015 Share June 1, 2015 (edited) If I had to guess I would say the conti car makers (Merc, BMW, VW) are more impacted by the Euro emission laws which their home company and sales base and had to evolve quickly to adapt, Japanese makers on the other hand have a majority market in US where the norm is have big engines so have been less pressured to change. This is a guess could be wrong. In fact I recall a statement where the Bmw (some head) said Bmw will not have force induction cars going forth, this was during the E9X series i.e E92 M3 with the 4.4 Litre engine, guess he was wrong lol I read through the threads, still cannot get why Japanese automakers don't invest enough to turbo engine, since decades ago they already had the mature technology, and even if BMW, Merc etc conti makers started up lag but they caught up recently, now you want to buy a NA conti car is rare in market Edited June 1, 2015 by Mercury1 ↡ Advertisement Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also sat in a BYD taxi in Shenzhen. I was actually very impress. Volkswagen cars have an image problem, they think they are the commoner's car but consumers see Volkswagen as a luxury car. Part of the blame is due to Volkswagen use of "premium" technology that makes their cars more expensive than Japanese car. This is evident in the U.S. Market where Volkswagen is struggling. Yes they are already in Singapore. I saw quite a few times. They are slowly penetrating to Singapore market. In actual fact they are doing pretty well in Europe. Currently working with A* as well.
